melvern lake Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in a few minutes ago with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. We have been fishing the Coronado Islands recently with light loads. Today we had very good fishing. We had 11 anglers catch 28 Yellowtail. The fishing offshore has been tough!

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-24-2019 We had another log jam today on the kelp patties. Another great day of fishing Wahoo and what a beautiful grade of fish! Some real beauties in their. They look more like alligators than Wahoo. They definitely act like alligators when you hook one. We also had a good hit on the yellowfin tuna again this afternoon. The grade of fish was more like 20 to 45 it wasn't all 45 pounders. But still a good grade of fish! Were finished up in the lower zone here and need to start working north. Stayed late today so we will probably only have a few hours of fishing tomorrow if any looking for some yellowtail up the coast. Weather is still epic. We also spent about a half hour today catching and releasing beautiful grade Dorado. We didn't keep any! Will check in with you tomorrow on our way home after a short try for yellowtail. Big Bluefin on the Brain! Were able to scoop up some big Flying Fish on our way up the line! These flyers will be the perfect size bait for the local giant Bluefin Tuna. Recently the hot ticket has been: Heavy Flat falls in the dark, frozen Flying Fish on the kite, and trolling the Yummee flyer. We individually wrap our flying fish in saran wrap so they do not stick together when we freeze them. These ones are ready and on stand by for the big ones!

We ran our last Guadelupe trip from 11-7 to 11-13 the fishing continued steady through the trip with several 100+ # fish hitting the deck. We averaged 20 to 40 yellowfin per day and most were in the 40 to 70 # class. Goodbye to the lupe for now.

Hello everyone, Today our first day of fishing was challenging. An unusual south wind made it difficult to catch these Yellowtail. The South wind is supposed to switch back to a somewhat "normal" wind. Hopefully it turns around tomorrow. Team Supreme

Seems the Yellowtail are in spawn mode. We found multiple kelps with enough Yellows on them for limits for this boat and another, if they would have wanted to bite! IF! We managed to find an area with schools of Bluefin that were not very user friendly, lost one. One Yellowtail fell for a live sardine and that was our day. Some days luck is on your side, other days it's just not. But that's fishin for ya.
