The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

A few quick opportunities on the yoyo jigs produced 31 yellowtail. Tomorrow’s trip has been cancelled due to weather. Friday March 26 is our next trip.

Today we went out with 22 anglers and had a nice surprise. While driving towards the rockcod grounds we scanned up a nice school of yellowtail along the bottom. After a short drift we had three 25 lb. yellows on the deck. Hopefully this is just the beginning. Grab your yo-yo outfits and come on down.

From Brook Trout to Big Yellowtail! Siblings Tom and Mary Chaparro have been fishing buddies since the early days. They started out catching Brook and Golden Trout in the mountains when they were kids, now catching Yellowfin Tuna and Yellowtail on Toms annual 7 day trip. Keep it up you two! A tad bit breezy today, but still plenty comfortable. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Trip summary so far...

Still having issues with the data link on the sat phone and computer so it's been tough to try to get the reports out. However the fishing is the complete opposite. So far the trip is going perfectly as planned for the fishing. Our first morning we had excellent fishing on good quality yellowtail. From there we went outside and had great fishing on the Dorado and got our limits. The next day we had epic tuna fishing from 22-80 lbs. Our weather has been excellent the whole time. And our food has been no less than great, from the best cheeseburger in the world to the most tender flavorful fillet mignon. We will be hunting the wahoo tomorrow and hope our luck will continue.

The office has one cancellation on the 8-day trip leaving October 5th. And if you want a 10-day, Larry Brown still has open spots on his Oct 25th trip. Come out and join me and Tommy if you can.

Today was one of those days in which our anglers and ourselves will probably remember for the rest of our lives. Not because of the amount of fish we caught, but the tremendous shows these fish put on. It all began this morning when we found a fishy area on our way to a spot in hopes of wahoo, tuna and grouper. We spotted a nice bird school in some beautiful looking water. When it first came into sight, still a couple miles away, we saw some 30lb grade tuna jumping around in the middle of it. When we got up to it, the scene was a bit different. The tuna were pushed off of it by a jumbo school of big stripped marlin. And what a show they put on for us. A couple of our anglers presented their bait or jigs in the right place and the right time and hooked into these big beautiful fish. They where tail-walking and jumping high out of the water everywhere. On top of that, we were constantly seeing free-swimming marlin on all sides of the boat. Some even came within five feet of the boat! There were literally hundreds of marlin around the boat. It was truly a sight to behold! Finally, after battling and releasing all the marlin we hooked, we carried on making our way to one of our spots that has been extremely productive for big wahoo, tuna and grouper the past couple months for us. When we got there we quickly boated a couple handfuls of very nice mid-sized yellow fin tuna. Even though the tuna where present, there was little to no sign of wahoo. All of our anglers having wahoo on their mind, we decided to make our way to a spot about nights run from where we were. We will be there at the crack of dawn tomorrow. July 18
    We had an action filled morning today.  The yellows were biting good.  The only downside was it didn't last long.  For whatever reason breakfast only lasts an hour and a half.  We found another area that we worked on for a little bit then it went down.  After about 10:00 in the morning things were lifeless here until 5:00 this evening.  We had a couple shots at them before dinner was over for the fishies.  We're going to stay the night and hope things change here for the better.  We're hoping breakfast lasts longer and that there will be a lunch.  Theres plenty of fish around here when they're up and the grade of fish is wonderful so we want to stay.
