Hi friends. We just wrapped up an epic day and a half trip this morning. Drew really set the stage for this two-day trip that we departed on this afternoon.

On Thursday, we landed 16 bluefin before we even rubbed the boogers out of our eyes and from there we picked and scratched on various jig strikes on yellowfin and kelp paddy fish. A little after lunch, Gunny spotted a kelp that wrapped up our day on yellowfin and dorado. Awesome fishing in flat calm weather. Beautiful. The "blackhawk" strikes again. It really was a fantastic trip and we're hoping for more of the same tomorrow. Oh yeah, we also caught 4 slug albacore. Call Susan and book your spots for 2013 ASAP! Do it.

Things definitely slowed down today! You can tell it's on the downswing. If a guy works at it though he could put together a day if you stay with it! Took off from the island heading to Ensenada early and our weather is definitely snotty to say the least! Should be in late tomorrow afternoon Friday, and on time into San Diego on Saturday morning. Looking forward to having Vernon and the boys out on their annual five-day charter to Guadalupe Island! Don't have much more to say just hanging on trying to stay in my chair and not fly out of the wheelhouse.

Hello Everyone Today fishing was slow. We spent the day offshore looking around for any warm water fish that wanted to play. Unfortunately we only were able to land a few small Yellowfin Tuna. On the bright side we have superstar pizza chef Joe Gigliotti aboard and today. He decided to grace us with his pizza talent. He whipped up more pizzas than you could shake a stick at with so many topping combinations that it would make the Poppa Johns R and D department have to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to even have a chance of keeping up. It truly seemed like the endless lunch, always finding room for one more slice, and another and another. Fishing was slow but the pizzas were coming in HOT and often! "We fished at Cedros Island and we fished on offshore kelps," said Polaris Supreme skipper Drew Henderson July 28. He'd just ended a five-day Catchy Tackle trip with 24 anglers, and was weighing the catch at the Fisherman's Landing scales.
"We got yellowtail, dorado and some non-biting albacore," he added, "and; wow!" The albacore he hung on the scales pushed the numbers up to 41 pounds even. "That's the best one so far this season," I remarked. Henderson high-fived angler Al Brandenburg, who grinned and brought his fish over to the side for some photos. Brandenburg said he got the big longfin on a sardine and a 2/0 Flyliner hook. He used 30-pound Izorline on a Trinidad 30 reel and a Calstar 700 M rod. He won second place in the jackpot. Harvey Rosen of Benecia bagged a 43.6-pound yellowtail on the dropper loop to win first place. "He fought like a bulldog," said Rosen, who used a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad hook with 60-pound Izorline XXX mono, an Avet 4-2 reel and a Seeker 6460 glass rod to beat his fish in ten minutes. Don Spitzer of Petaluma was third, for a 33.8-pound yellowtail. Chartermaster Wayne Martin hoisted a dorado he said was typical of those encountered on kelps.

 

 

Today was our first full day of fishing! We are off to a great start with some great grade Yellowfin! 

 

~~Oct. 10
 So here's what went down today aboard the Polaris Supreme.  We slept in this morning.  Breakfast wasn't until 9ish.  As far as the crew goes Tommy made us a whole long sheet of a work list that kept us busy most of the day.  After breakfast we did our wahoo seminar which we were all delighted to have deckhand Mark present it to us.  Fantastic.  After that JC had a gift for us all.  A brand new pair of electric sunglasses which for me could not have come at a better time.  I was in dire straights for shades so THANK YOU JC!!!  After was the movie of the day which was Wolf Street and in between was lunch and then some rigging of tackle by some of the passengers.  Nap time was next and then cocktail hour and now we're doing dinner.  Cornish game hens tonight.  Last night was prime rib.  And after is bed time because we have another tough day to look forward to tomorrow.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 09-17-2020 It was a fair bite on the good grade tuna in the morning. We caught the only angler who didn't have a Wahoo one. And then went scouting. We where rewarded with a Boomer school of Dorado. We fished it for 45 minuets, Releasing most all fish. We kept only 14. Yellowtail tomorrow. See you then. The Polaris Supreme Crew!
