The Polaris Supreme returned from a 10-day trip with 31 fish over 200lbs! The top fish tipped the scales at 300.4lbs!

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-24-2019 We had another log jam today on the kelp patties. Another great day of fishing Wahoo and what a beautiful grade of fish! Some real beauties in their. They look more like alligators than Wahoo. They definitely act like alligators when you hook one. We also had a good hit on the yellowfin tuna again this afternoon. The grade of fish was more like 20 to 45 it wasn't all 45 pounders. But still a good grade of fish! Were finished up in the lower zone here and need to start working north. Stayed late today so we will probably only have a few hours of fishing tomorrow if any looking for some yellowtail up the coast. Weather is still epic. We also spent about a half hour today catching and releasing beautiful grade Dorado. We didn't keep any! Will check in with you tomorrow on our way home after a short try for yellowtail. Southern fishing now is on fire. so many kinds of fish in such a compact area. Jump on your 7 to 10 day trip soon.

July 13
    We had some good tailing today.  We were a little slow out of the gates.  We didn't get on them until a few hours after daylight but when we did it was good fishing on the 18-25 pound fish.  We had one of those good old long drifts where we were gettin um.  Of course after a while we had a lull so we went searching and found some mixed grade yellowtails eager to bite.  They were mostly 10-14 pounds with a few 16-18 pounders in the mix but it was still fun and they were biting.  We did that for a couple hours and left them biting to find the bigger grade of fish we were fishing in the morning and wouldn't you know it, we got an evening whack.  A sun setter.  Now this fish seemed to be even bigger than the morning grade.  I'm talking 22-28 pounders this time.  Maybe a few bigger.  At dark we decided we had enough yellowtail and we'd like to top off with some more yellowfin and try for some bluefin in a couple of days so we'll be running up tonight.  The weather for us was good
  and the forecast for the future looks tasty.  5 knots of wind makes my mouth water.  Everyone on board here is fat and happy.  What I mean by that is they're being fed well and are having a good time.

 

Yesterday we hit the wahoo in the morning and had a steady tuna all day on 45 to 75 pounders. Weather was still great. This morning we are heading up offshore to the albacore. Weather is ok. Not a bad ride up so far. Chef Tommy kicked butt again yesterday with a seafood pasta for lunch (lobster, scallop, shrimp and crab) and for dinner we had the classic steaks and baked potatoes. Very good. Passengers are all having a ball. Crew too. It's been a very good trip.

Good evening. Another good day for us here on the bountiful Pacific. It started with crewmember Mark singing "When You Wish Upon a Star" in his tone-def, SoCal-hillbilly kind of a way that only Mark can get away with and it didn't stop all day. From the crack of dawn (0530 hours), all the way until after dinner when he began belting out a lovely rendition of Shaggy's "Mr. Boombastic" while bumping SiriusXM 90's on channel 9 at full volume in the wheelhouse. Good times. Anyhow, daily limits of 12-35 lb. yellowfin tuna, fifty-four "boombastic" bluefin tuna, and a handful of dorado to top off a stellar day. We'll be here for one more day looking to finish up our trip with a banger. Damn good fishing and fantastic weather. Whammy.

With that being said, here are a few statistics that I unofficially kept track of throughout our day.

Number of times Patrick accidentally soaked my body from head to toe with the deck hose: once.

How many months that Bill Byler wrongly blamed Dick Emerson for writing profanities on his brand new jigs with a yellow paint pen: eleven. It was Mark and I's doing. We're naughty.

Number of fish Schooler knocked off with the gaff: none. Sonny Jim!

Number of Monster Energy Rehab Green Tea drinks consumed by Drew, Gunny, and myself: umm, I didn't keep an actual count. They're only 20 calories each, so who cares? Bottoms up!

Daily percentage of saturated fat in one slice of tonight's desert, Dulce de Leche cheesecake: 140%...one hundred and forty percent!?!! Wowza!

Yellowfin tuna caught by Herb Yamanaka's jigs he sent us: too many to count. We're going to be millionaires. Prestige Worldwide.

How many people are currently viewing me sing the lyrics "...when I think about you, I touch myself" aloud while typing out tonight's report: none.
