January 21, 2025 lake hemet Fishing Report

Hey guys, the yellowtail counts at the Coronado Islands have dropped a bit the past couple of days. There are a couple reasons for the slower fishing. First reason is the south wind we have had for the last two days. This south wind has dropped the water temp a few degrees therefore making the yellows a little less active. The second reason is the seal ions have stepped up there game. In the last three days we have lost at least 40 yellowtail to the lions. Good news is , the south wind is predicted to end by the end of today. Starting Tuesday we should start to see the water begin warming again. With the warming water the yellowtail should get more active making them easier to hook. With the seal ions acting as a tax collector it just comes down to the fact that we need to hook more fish. When we are hooking more fish both the seal ions and us can get our share. The best way to hook these yellowtail has still been a flylined sardine on 25 lb. test. The Coronado Island yellowtail have not gone anywhere , they are still there. We just need the water to warm a tiny bit so we can start catching them again. Look for better counts in the next few days. Today's photo is of a father and son with 3 yellowtail caught on Saturday. Quality family time in the outdoors is what it is all about !  We have traveled all day today doing the usual rigging and eating! We really don't have a whole lot to report. We will be fishing first thing tomorrow morning and looking forward to dinner a good night sleep and waking up to a good weather and great fishing tomorrow. Wish us luck.

January 19, 2025 lake hemet Fishing Report

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this morning with an audio update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA.  We are off to a good start today.  We have a mix of Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna.   We have 11 Bluefin (18 to 20 pounds) and 11 Yellowfin (15 to 30 pounds).  We have had good action this morning.  However, the light tackle has resulted in many casulaties.  

The Tribute is SOLD OUT this weekend.  But we have trips fishing next week with SPOTS open.  Call Seaforth at (619 224-3383 to get in on the action!

January 17, 2025 lake hemet Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Today we had another nice day of yellowtail fishing. We got a good morning jump on these guys and put quite a few on the boat right off the bat. There has been some tuna schools roaming around this area as well, we picked off a few mixed in with the yellowtail. However when we went out to try and find them we only had a couple jig strikes and skip jack breezers. That about wraps up our Seeker/Sadie Hawkins 3 day charter. We would like to thank Bev Seltzer for putting together such a great trip. We are looking forward to next year already! Until next time, Team supreme

January 16, 2025 lake hemet Fishing Report

Oct. 15

We had an awesome morning of yellowtailing today. Not long after daylight we started getting 18-25 pounders and it wouldn't stop for the next 4 hours or so. It was lovely. The set up was good. Hardly a breath of wind, bay style sea conditions and the fish were plentiful. I kept day dreaming of the Yellowtail fish head soup and the yellowtail sandwich I'll make when I get home after this trip. Mmmm. Around 11:00 the fish stopped biting but we were planning on it so we took advantage of that and we spent the rest of the day traveling down to the wahoo grounds. We did a wahoo seminar before lunch, then we ate carnitas tacos and then the rest of the day we got our wahoo leaders together while we looked for a kelp with dorados and whatever else we could catch with them though the kelps we did see weren't holding anything other then a few micro tunas. So we'll be in the grounds first light tomorrow in the wahoo mode.

 Here we go again.  One last short trip of the year.  My last trip as the captain.  El Capitan, Master, number 1,el jefe, the chief...  After this one Tommy comes out for 15 days.  You'll still get my blogs though because I'll be here.  Right now though I'm thinking about this trip right here that we're on right now.  I'm feeling some dorado and tuna tomorrow.  I'm hoping we get it done early and I have the problem of figuring out, OK, what next?  That would be real nice.  We'll see.  I have her on course and I'm feeling prime rib tonight.  I don't think I've eaten it in 2 years out here but tonight might be the night.  I haven't been very healthy lately so what's one more drink on the Titanic right?

The Apollo had great fishing today. Limits of Red and Chucks including 24 Lingcod. Plus a nice bonus 24 pound Halibut. The weather is great, finally!
