Local big tuna trips online! We just put some 1.5 day trips to capitalize on these BIG local Bluefin. Departing Friday August 17 Returning Sunday August 19

Stopping a school of tuna that is swimming at 8 kts often requires a lot of chum. Thanks to the best bait company in the business @everinghambaitbarge we managed to get a few schools to hang out with us for awhile. 42 bluefin 18 yellowtail.

Well so much for the great weather staying with us.

Today was rough and choppy. However, the wahoo fishing made up for it.

Fishing on the wahoo was fantastic. The tuna on the other hand were nonexistent. But man did we have a fun day. Dinner of course was fresh wahoo encrusted in macadamia nuts with a lemon butter sauce. Very moist and juicy. Saffron rice and mixed fresh veggies also adorned the plate. Great day, great fishing.

Polaris Supreme Trip Reports 08-03-2016 Today's trip has us departing on Henry Hampton's four-day trip. This is Henry's second year chartering the boat and it looks like he has quite a few new anglers. One thing about them looks the same though there are excited to get out and get at some good quality fishing. So off we go! We left the bait receivers with some of the most ratty bait that we've seen all year. Luckily we have a good supply in our center slammer that we have been rat holing for a few trips now. Departing this afternoon judging our options we have decided to try a little something different there is some new good-looking water and signs of yellows in a new area. As always happens the old areas are drying up fast. We have good weather today and a forecast of good weather tomorrow wish us luck. The Polaris Supreme crew!

Capt. Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're still having very good fishing. We've caught 45 Yellowfin tuna, 10 Dorado & limits of Yellowtail. We're seeing very good signs of fish down here, a lot of Yellowtail.

"We do have a 1.5 Dy trip leaving tomorrow night. Right now we only have 9 people signed up. That trip is a definite go, so if you like fishing on a light load call Seaforth Landing at 619-224-3383."

Today was one of those days in which our anglers and ourselves will probably remember for the rest of our lives. Not because of the amount of fish we caught, but the tremendous shows these fish put on. It all began this morning when we found a fishy area on our way to a spot in hopes of wahoo, tuna and grouper. We spotted a nice bird school in some beautiful looking water. When it first came into sight, still a couple miles away, we saw some 30lb grade tuna jumping around in the middle of it. When we got up to it, the scene was a bit different. The tuna were pushed off of it by a jumbo school of big stripped marlin. And what a show they put on for us. A couple of our anglers presented their bait or jigs in the right place and the right time and hooked into these big beautiful fish. They where tail-walking and jumping high out of the water everywhere. On top of that, we were constantly seeing free-swimming marlin on all sides of the boat. Some even came within five feet of the boat! There were literally hundreds of marlin around the boat. It was truly a sight to behold! Finally, after battling and releasing all the marlin we hooked, we carried on making our way to one of our spots that has been extremely productive for big wahoo, tuna and grouper the past couple months for us. When we got there we quickly boated a couple handfuls of very nice mid-sized yellow fin tuna. Even though the tuna where present, there was little to no sign of wahoo. All of our anglers having wahoo on their mind, we decided to make our way to a spot about nights run from where we were. We will be there at the crack of dawn tomorrow. The San Diego fisnished the day off with 158 yellowtail and 20 bonito.

Aug. 24

The tuna fishing offshore today was a bust. It shows how unpredictable tuna fishing can be on a day to day, week to week basis. We've told you before not to book based on the latest fishing reports and usually it's when fishing has been slow and all of a sudden busts out wide open. In this case it is the exact opposite. Yesterday there was some stellar fishing for a boat in an area and this morning all 9 of us boats were up at 4 in the morning drooling with anticipation of a wide open day soon coming. Unfortunately it never came and a couple hours after day light every boat picked a different direction and searched for where the fish swam off to. They were not found most likely because they didn't move, they were just down today. They could very well be in the biting mode tomorrow and it wouldn't surprise me a bit. It wasn't a total loss today. I mean we weren't skunked or anything like that but it just wasn't near what was advertised.

My point is if you're on any upcoming trips todays report means nothing to what is in store for your trip. Like Forest says, fishings like a box of chocolates.
