I've said it before and I'll say it again. Bluefin are the most unpredictable fish out there that we fish for. If you would have told me yesterday that we were going to have a day like we had today, I would have laughed in your face. Never again though. I will never trust this fish. For the last several days the bluefin fishing was very poor. I really thought that it was over for the year. I was wrong. Today we experienced the best bluefin tuna fishing I have ever seen. This is on a quantity to quality ratio that I'm talking about here. In my 13 years of long ranging, today was the best for the Bluefins.

Just after 6:00 this morning we stopped on a single fish mark under the boat. Just after 6:00 tonight we left them. The whole time we drifted it was pretty much wide open. The fish were from 25 up to 75 pounds. Most of them being in the 30-40 pound range. Once again we went into battle and we won. Oh yeah, we fished in the rain. At around 11:00 it started raining and it never stopped. Everyone on board was absolutely drenched all day and it was awesome. By the end of our stop no one was fishing so Mark and I grabbed a couple of rods and boated 3 of them ourselves. It was only Mark and I fishing and I was bringing one in and wouldn't you know it, when the fish was at gaff, there was Mark's spectra tangled all over my fish. 2 anglers fishing and he manages to make a big tangle. MAAAARK!!! I would have made him put on the dunce helmet but he was already wearing it. Heres why. There was a 2 fish tangle and Mark grabbed 1 of the rods to unwrap it and he dropped it right in the water. MAAARK!!!. Unbelievably another person fishing managed to hook one of the guides on the rod and we got it back. Fish and all. I immediately tossed Mark the yellow dunce helmet and he wore it all day.

Needless to say everyone on board is beat tired and we will not have any trouble sleeping through the night tonight. We're headed for the yellowtail grounds now and will be there first thing in the morning.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-25-2019 We got off on a nice early start on Joe Becks annual eight day trip. We have 24 happy smiling anglers excited to get at it and throw some fish on board. The bait we picked up at the receivers to complement what we already have on board looks good (although small) . Our weather is great the wind we have is out of the south which is not normal but it's good going. Have you ever heard of the term it popped up overnight? It happens in the desert around Thanksgiving for the four wheeling off-road enthusiasts. You see it happen in the desert with the snowbirds in the fall time were huge motor home and trailer communities pop up. It happens at Coachella and Burning man. And yes it happens on the Polaris supreme too. Last night there was no sign of them. But this morning there's a full blown rod forest on the back deck! The boys are enthusiastic to say the least. The Apollo will be running an open party over night trip out of Santa Barbara. This trip will depart on Friday night March 27th at 9pm for fishing Sat. This will be a freelance trip hoping for squid and sea bass, with rock fish. We arrived on scene here around noon time and immediately got to work. Lots of bi catch around but some great size Yellowfin mixed in. We also were able to catch some nice grouper, and one very large one. The big ones are biting this year! Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Had another great day of grinding away at Yellowtail and Wahoo. The Wahoo are still around, they are now on live bait better than the trolling jigs and casting lures. There was also a nice shot on quality Yellowtail in the dark, so you may be going to bed late or waking up early if you are on an upcoming trip! Working up tomorrow, Team Supreme

Hello everyone, Today we spent the morning catching Yellowtail and Bluefin Tuna. The Yellows were a great grade 15-30 lbs. The trick was light line and small hooks. The Tuna were not the bigger grade we were targeting, so the search will continue. We will try a new area tomorrow. Wish us Luck, Team Supreme

Scratched away for 16 wahoo. Weather is excellent. Didn't get much tuna until the end. We had fun kite fishing on frozen flying fish into the dark. We re-baited and have a good supply of bait tonight and have hopes of a better day in the morning.

We got 15 wahoo this morning. Our weather is outstanding. Just really great. Conditions are still good. We plan to start our fishing this afternoon around 4pm. And it will probably go on until 4 am.
