Fishing is very technical now. Lots of Tuna but mainly being hooked with a well placed cast in a Tuna foamer. 

They are mainly biting surface lures.

Tady 45 or Salas 7x surface irons 

Be ready to cast and be ready for action.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update from the Coronado Islands. Ryan said, "The Ocean is Alive!" Today we had 120 Yellowtail for our group. The surface iron was very effective today along with the fly-lined baits. We also had a fair amount on Yo-yo iron.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-06-2016 Hello everyone our morning started off with something different around the boat as we started our day of fishing for the bluefin tuna. What was it? Squid!! And yes we scooped up some to use for bait. sure enough we put it to good use with our first bluefin tuna of the morning being hooded on it. With live squid and sardines we did well today. Like Art Gutierrez landing a bluefin tuna over 90 pounds after a long and hard battle. most of the fish were 60-90 pounds. And yes we did have several heartbreaks which is part of the game with fish of this size. But we did land our fair share today. Great fishing all around. The 21st annual Eric Rogger charter arrived at Fisherman's Landing August 16, after five days with 18 anglers aboard Polaris Supreme. Owner-skipper Tom Rothery was at the helm. "Wow!  What an incredible day," wrote Tom August 12. "This albacore is in the cooler 76-degree water.  It wants to bite wide open. Can't say enough about how much fun today was catching big fat jumbo albacore. They tired our anglers out. By the end of the day only a few fishermen were still standing.  Chef Pedro fixed a spicy teriyaki albacore lunch that was fantastic.  For dinner he served some delicious veal chops. Today was just a great. This is what albacore fishing is supposed to be like." John Lindsey of Newport Beach won first place for a 41.4-pound albacore. He took it with a sardine on a Mustad 2/0 94150 hook on 20-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon leader, 20-pound P-Line, an Accurate 197 reel and a nine-foot rod of unknown make. "He fought hard," said John. "He fought for 20 minutes."
Cole Pearce of Huntington Beach was second, for a 36.4-pound albie, and Brian Harnack of Culver City took third place for a 36-pound albacore.

Well we accomplished what we wanted to do today. We gave everyone a good shot at one of those cow bluefin tuna. It was at 6:05 in the am when the school got on us. We started off hooking yellowfin and watching those 100 +sers blowing out around the boat. It didn't take long for us to start hooking them. We drifted for a couple of hours with bluefin hanging on the lines. Like always with these beasts the hook to land ratio was not good. There were alot of heartbreaks for the passengers and myself and the crew. We only landed 4 of them all in the 130's. We lost a lot more then that. A few just mere feet away from being gaffed. It' a sad thing to have one of these on for an hour only to lose it in the end. Sometimes you eat the bar and sometimes the bar eats you. After the school left us we pretty much had to point her for home with a good load of fish from the trip and smiles on the lucky 4 and tears in the eyes of the rest. Short lived though. We get over these

things. You'll get them next time. We're experiencing a very nice ride home. Finally we get to wear shorts and teeshirts out here. Nice. Thanks to everyone on board. We'll be arriving tomorrow and then turning around on a 5 day trip. Should be good fishing. See you then.
