 And here's what we did today.  The crew rigged up mucho tackle.  I'm talking the grande stuff for the grande fish.  After that and after breakfast we did our tuna seminar and I talked Tommy into doing a couple parts of the seminar.  All I know for the past 10 years is my tuna seminar.  It's nice to get a different perspective.  Anyways, after that we were finishing up tackle rigging when poof, all three trollers went off.  So we caught a couple meals.  3 nice dorado.  So then it was lunch time of street tacos.  And then some napping went down and the afternoon movie was Caddy Shack.  When 5:00 rolls around it's cocktail hour and it looks glorious.  Drinks, cigars, and friends.  Then we had baby back ribs for dinner.  Once again like the first 2 nights we tried for some giant squid to use as bait, but we were unsuccessful. 

 Still no storms brewing up down below and we're getting more and more confident we won't be getting pushed out of the fishing grounds until we say so.  2 more days of travel before we arrive.  Everyone is enjoying themselves now because in a couple days, it's going to be war.  We'll be battling it out with 200+ pound tuna and wahoo.

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

Hi friends. We dropped off Eric Rogger and friends to a dock full of curious bystanders and passengers ready to depart on various trips on other boats and the Ron Heil group looked on as well, ready to load the boat and get underway. Why wouldn't they? With the catch we unloaded, you'd have to be a fool not to go fishing right now. A fool, I say. Anyways, we completed all of our turnaround chores, loaded groceries, loaded passengers, and bid the docks farewell. Our bait loading was about as much fun as trying to hit a nail on the head but instead hitting your finger. Our bait looks okay for now but we're closely monitoring the situation. Nothing anybody can do about it. From the guys on the bait boat busting their butt to get bait to all the boats that demand, the guys on the bait receivers, or us, it is what it is.

Anyhow, Chef Shawn kicked out the prime rib, artichoke, and baked potatoes to the peeps and everyone is hitting the rack for tomorrow's wake-up call. We'll be gettin' nasty with it at 0545 hours. Real nasty. Wish us luck.

July 30
 Arrive/Depart today. I feel that I've written this report before. We added a few things, like crew members, food, new passengers... We took a few things away, like crew members, old passengers with there fish... Anyways, We left again mid morning on Mr. Chaparro's 18th consecutive charter. A limited load of 20 passengers. We got our bait... We'll see... and are underway. We'll be fishing first thing tomorrow for tuna/yellowtail/dorado all day long and most likely working our way back down to Cedros Island. There looks to be some wind on the way so we like to be at Islands fishing when that happens. More comfty that way.

The weigh in happened. Just a 5 day progress report. Mark actually gained weight while Justin lost some. And Mark was the better eater. Unless he's secretly stuffing his face during his watch or something. Maybe he doesn't remember doing it.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in this afternoon with the Coronado Island Report. Today the boat went out with Captain Taro at the helm. Today we had 91 Yellowtail. Yesterday he had 43 Yellowtail. And Thursday we had 70 Yellowtail. We are seeing lots of fish. On Saturday it was mind-blowing how many Yellows were at the Islands. They are biting the fly-lined sardines really well. Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update regarding the Passports! We are going to be fishing offshore for Bluefin Tuna and Yellowtail. Mexican immigration has just informed us that every passenger will need a passport to fish the Coronado islands. Tomorrows trip will be an offshore US waters trip targeting bluefin and yellowtail. If you don't have a passport you should start the paperwork. If you plan on fishing in Mexican Territorial waters you will be required to have a passport. That means if you are at the Islands or within 12 miles of the Mexican Coast. Passports will not be required for Offshore Trips fishing more than 12 miles from the Mexican Coast. The San Diego will be fishing offshore for awhile until our passengers can get passports. However, we will eventually return to fishing at the Coronado Islands.

Capt Ryan Bostain from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing called in a report after going offshore today, we had a nice mixed bag of fish today. We had 50 anglers on board and ended the day with 60 Yellowtail, 38 Yellowfin Tuna and 5 Bluefin Tuna. The Yellowtail were in the 7-12 pound range and the Yellowfin were 15 - 35 pounders. We got a school of larger Bluefin Tuna and only managed to put on the boat around 50 pounds. We are going to continue offshore, if you want to come out bring an assortment of live bait set ups. You\'ll need size 2 - 2/0 hooks and maybe some smaller sliding sinkers. See you on the water.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update from "The San Diego" out of Seaforth Landing. We have been fishing offshore for Bluefin lately but it is just not biting enough for us. So we are throwing in the towel! We will be fishing at the Coronado Islands tomorrow. Please be sure to bring your PASSPORT with you.
