Hello Everyone,

Today we started the day trying for Yellowtail and 20-40lb Bluefin Tuna. It was a great start. We had excellent fishing. We had to leave them biting at 9 am. From then on we changed gears to target larger Bluefin Tuna. Around lunch time we found them. Ranging in size from 70-200 lbs, most ranging from 130-150lbs. Most of them bit the kite, but the bait fish that we caught were landed on 100lb flyline with a size 2/0 Gamakatsu Nautilus HD hook. Getting a bite on heavy line required a small strong hook. If the hook was too big then there was a small chance at a bite. If the line was too light then there was a slim chance at landing the fish. It took the perfect combo for fly lineing to get a bite and to land one of these fish.

We will try for these big boys again tomorrow.

Another amazing day at the Coronado Islands. Our 53 anglers caught all the yellowtail they wanted on live bait and small yo-yo jigs.

We now have the Apollo in beautiful Santa Barbara for the rest of the spring. We are running two Berkley sponsored limited load overnight trips to the Channel Islands. The first trip will depart on Thursday night April 19th at 9 pm to fish on Friday April 20th. The second trip will depart at 9 pm on Thursday night May 17th to fish Friday May 18th. These trips will target Quality Rockfish, ling cod with the chance for some early season halibut or sea bass. Please come join us on the Apollo in Santa Barbara for some fun spring time fishing. We traveled home today. Just one of those perfect rides. It was like we were driving in the bay. Flat calm is what I'm telling you. Just beautiful. The passengers broke down all of their gear in the morning and spent the rest of the day watching movies and taking naps or just chilling outside enjoying the ride while the crew did the end of the year cleaning. Spring cleaning you'd call it only in November. That's right, we have no more trips leaving the rest of the year. It's time for us to do the land thing. Time to get our land legs back, work on our golf games, plan our ski/snowboard trips, work off all the Polaris Supreme meals we took in throughout the year or whatever else it is we do during the off season.

On behalf of myself and the crew we thank O.T.R.'s Lon Mikkelsen and Mr. John Esler and all else who participated this year on their 10 day trip and to all the many anglers who fished with us this year. Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an announcement. We have finished our boat work and will be running our first trip on Saturday, February 3rd. We will be fishing the Coronado Islands. However, we will be looking around and will be targeting the best opportunities. During the beginning of the fishing season it is very important to make an advanced reservation.
