Captain Ryan Bostian called in an with a Bluefin Audio Update! The Bluefin Tuna are really close. We are seeing fish up to 100 pounds. The smaller fish 20 to 25 pounds are biting 20 pound test pretty good. But please bring some heavy line for the bigger models!     And we're off on another 5 day trip.  Things didn't go so hot at the bait receivers.  The bait we got was healthy, we just weren't allowed to take a full load.  We were shorted 75 scoops or so.  Anyways, we looked for fishies this afternoon.  We saw some small spots of yellowfin right out of the gates that wouldn't bite, and then didn't see anything until almost dark.  A sonar ball of yellowfin produced three fish so we got jackpot handled already. 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  We're going to slide down a little tonight and look in an area that produced some pretty darn good yellowfin fishing today.  The weather is magnificent.
                            

 

Drew Henderson brought Tommy Rothery's Polaris Supreme home after a five-day trip with 24 anglers to Guadalupe Island. He said he got some fish at Westy's Hole, but the sharks were bad there. Marco Ramirez of Torrance won first place for a 74.8-pound tuna. He nabbed the yellowfin on a sardine and a 2/0 Gamakatsu hook. He said he used 40-pound Seaguar fluoprocarbon and 80-pound Power Pro Spectra on a Sealine 50 reel and a five and a half-foot Lamiglas rod. He remarked that he almost got too tired to reel during the one-hour fight. Michael Rayner of LA was second, for a 71.2-pounder, and Rodger Kang of Fresno tied him with a tuna of exactly the same size.

Hello Everyone, We had another great day out here. A nice hit on Wahoo, better grade Dorado, and a great evening bite on 30 lb Yellowfin tuna. Oh Yes and some Grouper mixed in to keep things interesting. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings. Will report then, Team Supreme

Absolutely a great day of fishing. From day light on we had excellent fishing on school grade yellowtail. Our weather is good and everyone is having a great time. We are off to look for tuna tomorrow. We celebrated with Alex Zarifis as he turned 80 today! Great way to spend your birthday. Thanks for checking in. Tommy and crew

Drew Henderson brought Polaris Supreme home July 5 after a five-day trip with 24 anglers.

"We fished Cedros again a half day," wrote Drew July 3, "and had a nice drift in the morning but then the fish went down quick which has been the routine. We put our anchor down and had a nice pick on the yellows and all the other fish you could catch. We had to bail out at 11:00 a.m. and made a couple stops on the way up the line then we had to go full cruise to get ourselves to the tuna grounds.

"The next day started off painfully slow but right around 1:30 we had our first school and shortly there after we got on another one that we drifted on until dark."

At the dock, Drew summed up his last day of fishing, the 4th of July: "We spent the day looking offshore. We got about 75 fish, and mostly we had three or four going for several hours."

Bob Morehouse of La Crescenta won first place for a 54-pound yellowfin he bagged with a sardine on a 2/0 Mustad hook, with 30-pound Big Game line, a TLD 1`5 reel and a Calstar six-foot rod.

Chris Stavaridis of Venice was second, for a 48-pound tuna, and Tony Sabatino won third place for a 46-pound yellowfin tuna.

With the weather forecast looking good and a favorable moon phase. We have decided to switch back to offshore fishing. These trips will be limited to 44 pass and do not require passports. Come prepared with a 25 lb bait rod, a 40 or 50 lb bait rod and a 60 or 80 lb rod to fish a flat fall.

TIP FROM THE CREW : Flatfalls get bit better on smaller spools, use the smallest reel you feel comfortable with. A Talica 10 or 12 2 speed or something similar is perfect. We will fish offshore until we feel there is a better option.

Looks like we have some very strong winds coming on Friday and Saturday. If you plan on fishing this weekend. Sunday will probably be the best day.
