devils lake nd Fishing Report 2025

Happy fourth of July! Well things didn't improve much, just a handful or so, so we are heading back up to finish off our excellent albacore trip with some local fishing. We will be at the dock Thursday morning at 7:30.

Yesterday night Captain Ryan Bostian called in with a Coronado Islands update. We are probably having the best Yellowtail fishing we have ever seen at the Coronado Islands. Yesterday Captain Taro had a charter with 145 Yellowtail. Two days ago we had 251 Yellowtail. The boat is not sold out we do have spots available You will need a passport. 125 yellowfin for our 45 passengers. We had 2 drifts today both of which took a finesse presentation to get a bite. Size 2 or even size 4 hooks on 20lb flouro carbon is still the recommended set up when the tuna are picky. And special thanks to Captain Todd and crew of the @voyagersportfishing for letting us double team a very nice school with them.

July 10

Slow day in the long range tuna grounds today. It didn't take long after day light to find what we were looking for as far as bird life and dolphin life goes and it was in the area that we fished on the way down and did well and where other boats had done well too in the past few days but this action had been in the afternoon and we were there first light. Things hadn't gotten with it yet. The fish weren't there. We couldn't wait for the afternoon due to us needing to be in San Diego tomorrow so we had to keep her rolling. We saw nothing else for 30 miles other then a few jig strikes for a bakers dozen. We bumped into some common dolphin around lunch time and we caught some tuna with them but it was short lived. The dolphin were being mean and not cooperating. We did nothing after that and called the trip at 3:00 in the afternoon.

The weather was choppy first thing, then smoothed out until around 2:00 and got choppy again. We're having your average rough ride home. It will be a good test for all the bolt holes from antennas that we took off and replaced. No water dripping in the wheel house yet. I think we're good.

We'll be getting in tomorrow at 7:30 in the morning and we'll be turning around for 5. See ya later.

Cold and crisp. All you want Yellowtail and had a shot at huge Bluefin, yet no bite! We kept enough Yellowtail for dinner with friends and family and released a bunch

The Pacifica out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA wrapped up a 2 day trip with 24 anglers.

26 Bluefin Tuna

Well late in the day yesterday we got into a good school of albacore. They bite well and everybody was hung on the boat. It was a wild afternoon and we ended up with a nice round of albacore. This morning we are in a new area. Prospects look good and we've had a handful so far. We are coming up on a really good looking spot so I will update again later. Thanks! Tommy and crew
