22 yellowtail 2 dorado. Unable to find a lucky kelp or a school today.

Our hunt for mahi mahi was rudely interrupted by big schools of 10-30 lb yellowfin tuna. 107 yellowfin, 23 skipjack. 20-30 lb and size 2 hook was the hot setup. Few fish on colt snipers as well !

Bottom of the ninth anchor job saved the day. Ended with 68 yellowtail 42 barracuda 12 calico bass. All techniques worked today, fish what you have confidence in.

Since our big hit on Tuesday, the yellowtail at the Coronado islands have gone into sleepy mode. Each of the last two days we have seen plenty of yellowtail but they have been very difficult to catch. Today we went out with 62 passengers and caught 2 yellowtail and 150 rockfish. One thing is for sure, these yellowtail will bite again. As far as predicting when they will bite it is anyone's guess. If you come out expecting to catch yellowtail, you may go home disappointed. If you come out to enjoy the "fishing"and the ocean, and you happen to come on a day in which the yellowtail are biting. You just might experience the best day of "catching" in your life. Be prepared, the difference between 75 yellowtail on the boat and 2 yellowtail on the boat is 2 hours of biting fish.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-06-2016 Hello everyone our morning started off with something different around the boat as we started our day of fishing for the bluefin tuna. What was it? Squid!! And yes we scooped up some to use for bait. sure enough we put it to good use with our first bluefin tuna of the morning being hooded on it. With live squid and sardines we did well today. Like Art Gutierrez landing a bluefin tuna over 90 pounds after a long and hard battle. most of the fish were 60-90 pounds. And yes we did have several heartbreaks which is part of the game with fish of this size. But we did land our fair share today. Great fishing all around. It's been hard to find a biting fish offshore lately. But we connected with one in choppy, mixed up seas. Dylan saved the day!!

July 24
  Well, we didn't really connect on the tuna today.  Darn.  I really thought it was going to happen too.  Oh well.  That's all we can say.  Oh well.  We gave it our best shot until around 2:00 this afternoon and then we had to call it.  There is another trip leaving tomorrow so we have to go home.  We caught a bunch of litluns today and some nice yellows on kelps but we didn't find our 100 fish stop on the 15-22 pound tuna.

  World class yellowtail fishing this trip for some world class folks and I mean that.  Even if they are Giants fans.  We have a busy day tomorrow.  There's a lot to get done prior to take off including the official weigh in.

Hello Everyone, Today was the ultimate tackle day. We spent the day preparing all our gear for the following days to come. Spooling up reels, wiring up bait leaders, bombs, and marauders for Wahoo. It was a nice day rolling down to take care off all of these things. Tomorrow we will start fishing. We have the opportunity for Yellowfin tuna, Wahoo, and Yellowtail all in the same spot!
