california surf Fishing Report 2024

Very good sign of albacore/bluefin today. There were spots up puddling and boiling around everywhere. Not too many big schools though, so it was good scratching from daylight to dark. The tuna are from 12-40 lbs. Mostly 20-30 pounders. Some of the bluefin we've seen jumping are over 100 lbs., but we haven't gotten close enough to even try. Weather couldn't be better. It's like we're fishing in the bay. We'll be at the dock tomorrow morning and departing on another 3-day. It's prime rib night and just heard 1st call so see ya!

24 anglers. 23 bluefin tuna from 40-80 lbs. They let their guard down a bit today and the guys took full advantage. Today’s best setup was a 160-200 gram flatfall or a sinker rig fished on 40-60lb.

Yellowtail fishing fell on its face today we had about 1 around. But we managed to keep busy have fun and catch some killer table fair. Thats right Rock Cod. You should see the rock cod fishing we had, it was pretty darn good. We where lucky the yellowtail and the Rock cod grounds are one in the same and we could do both while waiting for the yellows to bite. The lings and reds made up most of our catch today. All of us are looking forward to dinner tonight, it is going to be fresh tuna we caught a few days ago. We will be back in the tuna grounds tomorrow to finish off our trip. Tommy and Crew.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 09-12-2019 Fun morning fishing for yellowtail today everybody got to pull on a couple and it was nice quality. Again our weather is beautiful and everybody had a great day. Were off traveling up the line for home the rest of the day and probably going to make a shortstop tomorrow for a little fun table fare! Add a little color to our fish. The Polaris supreme crew!

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute gave us an on the water update for this morning, they are off to a great start. So far they have 12 Yellowtail from 12 to 18 pounds and 2 Bluefin Tuna around the 40 pound each and this before 7am. We ended yesterday in this area with some good fishing, hopefully today will be more of the same we have high hopes. We will check back in later.

Hi friends. Pretty fun day today. One small yellowfin jig strike turned into a plunker on 30-70 lb. bluefin tuna. We had a lot of heartbreaks but we did manage to land a few of those beauties. Love seein' those big brutes. No prettier fish in the ocean, that's for sure. Anyhow, around lunch time, we had to call it a trip and make our way back home. It was a great way to end our day and the Blue/White group is pumped.

Mr. Gledhill is one of the most gracious chartermaster you could ever have and he assembled a great group of guys to take fishing with him. The cocktails and wine are endless and so are the good times. Thanks, Robin.

Anyhow, we'll be arriving to the docks tomorrow at 0600 hours and the boat will be turning around and leaving for a 2-day charter. Look for reports to continue from any number of captains or crewmembers other than myself. Also, we have an 8-day trip leaving after the 2-day that has a few spots on it and in the next couple of weeks, we also have a load of 1 1/2 and 2-day trips on schedule. Mike Pritchad called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're just wrapping up our 2.5 Day trip. We have had absolutely fabulous fishing. We caught limits of Yellowtail, 6 Skipjack, 5 Dorado, 69 Yellowfin tuna, & 110 Bluefin. It looks like there is more Yellowfin tuna coming up the line.
