az game and fish Fishing Report 2024

The San Diego checked in on March 16, with 25 yellowtail, 6 bonito and  100 rockfish catches.  Yo yo jigs have been the top producer so far but every school has boiled on our chum.Encouraging sign of fish for 1/2 the day today. Couple decent shots on all the popular presentations. We will try again tomorrow.

As the sun was setting on our final “offshore” trip of 2020. The moon was rising over the Coronado islands. Today we scratched 60 small yellowtail off of various kelps. Tomorrow’s trip has been cancelled due to lack of reservations. All of our trips in December will be fishing the islands and will require a passport. Reservations are very important this time of year.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-05-2016 Hello Supreme Fans. Our day started off Early in the gray light, but with much bigger fish around the boat. Some of the bluefin tuna we saw blowing out were well over 150 pounds! We had our fair share of hook ups and heart breaks throughout the day most of the time we had 3 to 4 fish going. Rob Gledhill had one on close to 3 hours only for it to gain it's freedom right next to the boat! Gary Jones was one of the lucky ones. After a long hard battle he lands one that taped out at 91 pounds! We have really gotten worked over the last two days on this big fish. It is really hard to hook them on anything heavier than 50 pound test, you fight them for long battles and then after a half an hour to two hours you lose it and have to start all over again. We are definitely getting our butts kicked. It's really some fun fishing, the catching could be a little bit better. Wish us luck as we plan to do battle again tomorrow with the mighty mean bluefin tuna. The Supreme Team!

Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day targeting the larger Tuna, Yellowtail, Wahoo, and Grouper. We were able to pick the 20-30 lb Yellowfin Tuna for most of the day. There was also some nicer Yellowtail caught on occasion as well. We caught a few Wahoo, but the volume was not around today like we wanted. We are headed up in hopes of big Yellowtail tomorrow. Polaris Supreme Trip Update 10-30-2018 Fishing was a little scratchy all day. We hooked one around for the day and landed most of them! The sharks were not too bad. Knock on wood. Our adversary today was the weather we had some gnarly wind up to 35 kn gusting over the island at times and then it would be slick not a breath of air. We found drifting work the best to keep the tangles down to nothing. The weather as far as roughness was good being in the lee of the island. We're going to do this for a few more days and are still very excited about our prospects. As you can see the fish we landed today are absolutely beautiful grade. The Polaris Supreme Crew

Captain Tucker McCombs checked in this morning from the Endeavor out of Hook's Landing in Oxnard, CA. We got em again! Limits of White Seabass and a Halibut too! The Endeavor is online for White Seabass fishing again departing tonight.

  Today was rough.I'm not talking about the fishing.  I'm talking about the weather.  We were expecting this though.  We knew it would be this way so we had plans all along to keep it a down swell day.  We started west and moved east jigging up small tuna.  We expected this as well.  We must of caught 50 tuna this morning but only 10 of them wound up with tags stapled to there gills.  All the rest went back into the ocean to fight another day.  Right before lunch we hit a nice kelp and caught 20 nice yellows.  We thought we were going to string together a few kelps after that but that was the last thing we saw all day long other than a few jig strikes on throw back tunas.  So we're headed to the Island now and we'll be there before daylight.  Wish us luck.

  Good news.  We're getting our Gunny back August 8th.  I miss that well done steak eating man.  If you're reading this Guns, bring another blanket.  I've been using your's aqnd it's been working great.  I've been putting it on top of my blanket though so if you want it back it shouldn't have my cooties on it.
             

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in a trip wrap for todays trip, it was very good fishing this morning, with some highs and lows. We ended with 31 mixed tuna and 25 very nice grade yellowtail. Yo yo and fly lining worked very well for, and are still getting some hook ups in the dark while sitting on a kelp patty.
