Polaris Supreme Update 11-14-2013

Whales, porpoise, turtles, seals, frigate birds, boobie birds, marlin, and of course yellowfin tuna. All were sighted in the last 24 hours from the deck of the Polaris Supreme. We found the fish today, or they found us. Either way, it wasn't as productive day as it could have been. Not a barn-burner, but it showed us what potential tomorrow might have. Exceptionally calm and balmy weather continues. The term "grease calm" comes to mind. Our weather is forecast to remain like this for at least another day, and the only drawback is there is not enough wind to utilize our kites.

The crew is too busy to update you, so this is your mystery guest writer once again. The crew is re-rigging us in anticipation of another round with a nice grade of tuna. Actually, dinner tonight will be fresh seared Ahi served with all the the accompanying goodies. One of the rewards for landing a few of the right kind.

Cocktails are currently being consumed as fish stories are being told down in the main salon. Time to relax, and get ready for tomorrow's adventure. Life is good ... talk to you tomorrow...

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-14-2016 Our morning has started off fantastic we are having great yellowtail fishing a lot of yo-yo iron fish dropper loop fishing but not on the bottom 90 feet down and of course fly line fishing is working pretty good it's only 9:30 and we got a heck of a start on the day. Hopefully this will keep up it looks like the upper yellowfin tuna area in Mexico is really developing into something that may be in the game plan for us in the future. The trip we are out on is Archie Steele's annual five day trip the first picture is of him and his family grinding on a couple fish. Check with you later in the day. Polaris supreme crew.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-24-2016 As reported yesterday it was a very tough day fishing. We spent the whole day stopping on spot after spot after spot. It got to a point where I thought maybe the passengers didn't think we were really seen fish. One of the things we noticed was where the yellowfin tuna was hanging out, even though it didn't bite It Turns out it was good Intel for today. It did pay off this morning, we ended up shutting down right at daylight on a really nice school that stuck with this until after lunchtime. The grade of fish was 35 to 80 pounds. We hung with it for about another two hours and it just wouldn't bite. After about three hours of searching we finally found where the fish had moved to while we were drifting all morning. We were rewarded with another afternoon bite equal to what we caught in the morning we ended up with a fantastic day of quality, I say quality yellowfin tuna. We also had in the mix by half a dozen nice grade bluefin tuna. We are heading in and going to drop off our Joe Beck charter and pick up Beverly and her group. Oct. 11

We didn't connect on the bluefin tuna today. The fish was down or gone but it sure wasn't available for us or anyone else in the area to catch so that's it. We're done with this years Davis ultra limited load 15 day trip and we're headed for the barn. We'll have a big load of cow tuna to unload tomorrow and after an oil change, fuel fill and some grocery's we'll be heading back out on Joey G's Accurate sponsored 8 day trip.

Larry Brown chartermastered the ten-day 976 TUNA Catch & Release Fundraiser aboard the Polaris Supreme that returned November 7, and he won second place in the jackpot to boot. Owner-skipper Tom Rothery handled the helm. "We released 352 fish," said Larry at Fisherman's Landing. On November 1, he posted this: "This is a two-day report, as we didn't have much fun yesterday. They call it a fishing trip, not a catching trip, for a good reason. Yesterday we had one of those inevitable days of fishing and catching a lot, but it was poor quality and most all fish where released. It makes you appreciate those other wide open days on quality fish. Today we struggled again in the morning until Tommy found the area with the good water. We had a great afternoon with epic, limit style dorado fishing on beautiful grade flat heads. Even though the quality was fantastic we released 85% of the fish we caught providing us with good Karma which came in the form of wahoo. Weeding through the dodos was a challenge, but we managed to score a decent catch of these great eating speedsters." At the weigh-in, Phillip Smith of Sebastian, FL showed off a dorado he caught on a sardine and 20-pound spinning tackle. Alex Bravo of San Diego won first place in the Supreme's jackpot, for a chunky 73.8-pound wahoo. He said he bagged it with a gold and purple Burns Bob, on 40-pound Ande line, a Trinidad 30 reel and a Penn Sabre six and a half-foot rod. "We had a jig strike, and this one bit on the slide," said Bravo. "He almost spooled me. He had me down to 12 wraps of line on the reel." Larry Brown of Playa del Rey was second, for a 48.9-pound ‚Дтhoo that he got with a Tady 9 jig in blue and chrome. John Quick of Alamdeda was third, for a 47.6-pound skinny that ate a blue, red and purple Burns Bomb. Karl Bornemann of Hemet stood in with the group with his 35-pound dorado.
