Hi Anglers,

Good Morning. We just added a new page to our web site, called Fish Facts. It has some pretty cool info on some of the species we target.

For those of you Humboldt Marine Biologist graduates, if you see any mistakes or corrections I need to make, let me know. I'd appreciate it.

This is Richie's end of the day report from yesterday. It really has been some incredible tuna fishing since the beginning of June.

The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

23 yellowtail and plenty of bottom grabbers. Full sized yo-yo jigs on 40-50lb line worked best.

July 25
    A little bit of a slower day out here for us.
    
      We started our morning off all alone where we saw a few big schools late afternoon yesterday figuring we'd for sure be in them.  Un touched schools didn't make them bite any better.  We fished and caught a few in the same zoneish that we've been fishing before looking elsewhere for something fresh.  We ended right back where we'd been and saw the same thing.  Big schools that don't bite well.  We managed a few more of the 60-80 pound grade and a few handfuls of the 25-40 pound grade and some more 18-25 pound yellowfin before it got dark on us.  The weather all day was nice and we're headed back in now with fillet mignon coming up shortly. I hope I made this trip sound fun because that's what it was.  We were drifting 75 percent of the time with a chance any second for a bite. Thanks to Paul and the gang.  We always have fun together.
                            

 

Captain Mike Pritchard called in with a wrap up from today's trip. We ended up with a great Yellowtail Kelp. We had 195 fish for our 28 people on this Okuma Sponsored trip. We have an extended 1.5 day trip departing on Friday night. Call Seaforth now at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.

We departed yesterday on a 3 Day open group of some Fun looking regulars and new folks. We have had to go way farther than normal to get to good fishable country but we are scratching away today. Weather is great and we are having fun. Polaris Supreme Crew.

The kids are getting picky! Today we spent our day offshore looking for kelps. We had outstanding fishing on the smaller Yellowfin Tuna even though we released most of them. Our main target today was trying to find some Dorado, and a couple kelps had just what we needed. We ended up with with an action-packed day of quality Dorado and small Yellowfin fishing. A great way to end the trip. full of action and a few bigger fish.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-22-2016 Today was the same but very much different. It was the same in that we woke up very tired from nighttime fishing for yellowtail last night, it was the same in that we had excellent Wahoo fishing today, it was the same in that we had great weather. What was different was the way we caught the Wahoo. It was all on the anchor. So now we have caught Wahoo on the anchor, Wahoo drifting when they wouldn't bite the jigs, and Wahoo in giant shark Malays trolling. And one other different thing we had great fishing on tuna today. We haven't seen them for a couple days but today they did us right again. We're going to start working up the line and aren't sure if we going to have any time to fish left. We got a long ways to go home! It has been an absolutely fantastic trip in absolutely beautiful weather with a great great group of anglers who are now going to take some long long naps traveling home while breaking down their Tackle. The first annual Ocean Tackle Research trip aboard Polaris Supreme returned with skipper Tom Rothery and chartermaster Lon Mikkelsen November 19. The ten-day trip had 20 anglers. "We caught a lot of variety and had good fishing," said Mikkelsen, from Hood River, OR. "We also caught a lot of 40-pound Humboldt squid. The best fishing was on kelp paddies in the warmer water. "We're testing some new OTR jigs," he continued, "and they got bit." Rothery weighed the contenders on the Fisherman's landing certified scales. Clint Campbell of Bozeman, MT won first place for a 65.95-pound wahoo he caught ona silver and pink Raider jig. He said he used 40-pound P-Line, a Daiwa Saltist 30 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod. Jon Collins of Menifee won second place for a 52.6-pound skin that bit a pink Catchy Tackle bomb. Collins brought his son into the photo to show off a big dorado. Randy Walker of Huntington Beach was third, for a 48-pound wahoo that snapped up a gold Raider.
