van wormer Fishing Report 2025

Hello Everyone, Today we had a great day chasing the bigger Bluefin Tuna. We were able to land some great quality fish. Most came on the kite, but the one we landed on a fly line outfit bit 80lb with a great designer hook. Our landing ratio is great, we only need a few more of these quality Bluefin Tuna to make it so everyone has landed a fish over 120lbs. Hopefully we can get it done tomorrow. Hello Everyone Today we got to wet our lines for the first time in a few days. It was tough fishing but we did manage to scratch up some very good grade Wahoo and a few good Yellowtail. The size may be right but the numbers are not cutting the mustard. We are headed to a new area tonight in search of better numbers tomorrow. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Nov. 12

Today was spent fishing our way north. We started in the dark where passenger Matty hooked the mystery fish that spooled him. We then headed north and found ourselves on the bottom end of the ridge where we got the last passenger who didn't have a wahoo a nice one. Now everyone on board has at least one skin. There was a nice school of nice yellowfin there but we couldn't get one of them to bite. Conditions were good, they just wouldn't hit. We then headed north. The next spot produced another nice wahoo but lacked anything else to go with it so we headed north. Right when the sun was going down and after it was down we hit a school of yellowfin that bit until dinner. We tried a couple more spots after dinner for nothing and are now headed north in good weather. All that northerly travel today left us some time to fish tomorrow and it will be spent trying for more wahoo and some yellowtail fishing. Yellowtail is the one species we don't have a lot of this trip so hopefully we'll use a few tags on those tomorrow.

In addition to the great Wahoo fishing last trip JJ was able to sneak a whole skipjack down below then to pull out this nice Grouper! Hell ya JJ!

Fishing report for the week of sept 16-22. This past week was all about looking thru the binoculars and praying that you find the lucky kelp. Scores for the 3/4 day boats this week have ranged anywhere from 0 to 150 fish. The highlight of our week was a kelp we found on Thursday which kicked out 44 nice size dorado and 100 yellowtail. On Friday we caught our first yellowfin tuna of the season. This season is showing no signs of slowing down so make those reservations and come on down.

Capt Ryan Bostain called in from the San Diego the 3/4 day boat out of Seaforth Sportfishing, he said the last couple days were offshore and the fishing was on the slow side. But the good news is that they are back on the fish today, they just called in and said they have over 100 Yellowfin Tuna on the deck so far. We are fishing in US waters, so if you come down bring your California fishing license with you. We are fishing everyday looking for Bluefin, Yellowfin, Yellowtail and Dorado, the boat leaves everyday at 5:30 am and returns at 5 pm. Bring your flyline, popper and jig gear with you and come on out and have some fun.

Thanks for the amazing response to the OPEN Shimano Charters we scheduled for the Channel Islands this spring. The response was so positive that I spoke with the folks at Shimano and they agreed to put another trip on line. This one will be set for fishing on March 13. That would be departing at 9pm on the night of the 12th. This trip will be just like the others. Shimano will provide a bunch of outfits for fishing butterfly and lucanus systems.
