tofino Fishing Report 2025

Hello Everyone, We are still marching up the line here making good speed. Our ETA to the dock is 6 am tomorrow morning. Another great Billy Stephens Charter in the books. Hello everyone, Today we were able to put together a great day out here. Lots of life just not entirely the life we were looking for. We were able to fly line up some nice Wahoo and some good quality Dorado. A welcome addition to the collection of fish we have on board. Among the fish landed today we were able to get some of the guys their very first/ personal best Wahoo. The first Hoo is always the hardest! We are headed up the line tonight to be in position for a shot at yellowtail tomorrow morning. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Limits of yellowfin 91 skipjack 38 yellowtail. Fall fishing at its finest.

30 pass. 12 yellowtail 4 yellowfin tuna 2 dorado. Decent yellowfin sign but they were difficult to hook. Light line and small hook was the best chance. We also managed 2 dorado. Can’t say I have ever seen dorado in 66 degree water but nothing is normal anymore.

Today we departed on Joe Beck and Mal Wagstaf's annual six day trip, which is our first post-boat work excursion! We left the bay around 11am with a great load of mixed sized sardine and mackerel. Shortly after departing the bay, chef Mike prepared the guys bratwursts with a broccoli salad. We are now working our way south to the yellowfin grounds. We will be in that yellowfin zone by morning, but for the time being we are keeping our eyes out for those giant bluefin. The area we are in there are about 30 or so live bluefin tuna pen boats that are each towing two pens each. We have also seen a couple big blue whales that were heading north-bound. Sep. 8

We woke up this morning on the drift. I heard Tommy doing the stop and go on his watch early in the morning meaning he was seeing schools. He woke the rest of us up bright and early and it didn't take too long before we started hooking fish. They were the 15-18 pound bluefin and they weren't biting as well as you'd think they would judging by all the fish around the boat. We kept drifting though trying the patient mode. It's a lot easier to be patient with non biting fish when the other boats aren't getting stops. After a while and a few handfuls of BFT we gave up on these fish and went searching for some new ones. It took a while but around lunch time we found a nice big fat kelp and it was an aquarium underneath. Good viewing and catching on lot's of different fish from small throwback yellowtail to small tuna and tuna up to 32 pounds and lots of dorado. Yes it's that time of year. The water warmed up considerably in the last week or so and with that came schools of yellowfin and now the dorado in numbers. We'll take um. Crowd pleaser's is what they are and you know us, we like to please crowds. After a couple hours fishing there we went searching for something new unsuccessfully so we ended up back on our kelp and caught some more dorado and a few more tuna. We're now headed for the yellowtail grounds and everyone is fat and happy and we're planning on some good pulling on big yellows tomorrow.

I ate the escolar again substituting it for the prime rib in the fajitas we had for lunch today. It was smooth sailing John and I mean that in a good way. No problems down there. The fish isn't the best fish in the ocean. The flavor is great though the texture is a bit soft. Opening day for pro football so I'll leave you with this. Go Chargers! Let's do some competing this year. My Pad's couldn't do it so now it's up to you guys. Come on now!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update From Oct. 24th To Nov. 1 2012

Oh boy, where to begin? We're finally back on line here today. Our satellite connection way down where we fished doesn't work so until now we couldn't use the phone or send out our daily fish reports. But we're back on line. One week ago today we arrived at the Shamada Seamount just before or after lunch I can't remember, and it didn't take long before we saw a school of the bigguns right where we expected to see them so we didn't waste anytime and threw the anchor over right away, put out the kites and commenced fishing. No cows for us that day but we scratched at some big ones off and on till dark and that was that. No night bites while we were down here but it did start biting in the dark just before sunrise the next couple mornings and thats when we would catch our cows.

Throughout the next few days fishing was off and on depending on the time of day. When it was slow we would pull the anchor and troll for wahoo while dragging the kites behind us skipping rubber flying fish (yum yums) on top of the water. Pretty cool watching the bigguns hit these things. Usually they would miss the first few times but they keep trying until eventually they're hooked. When we weren't pulling on those we were jigging up steady wahoo strikes. When we would see the school of cows again we'd stop and fish them on anchor.

The biggest problem we had was keeping people fishing. When you have a charter with only 10 people it's hard to keep people at the rail so you don't know when the fish are biting because nobody's fishing. They're all chilling with a cocktail, beer and cigar in hands jamming to ipods hanging out. The weather was rough the first day down there and then the wind backed off and it got nice the rest of the trip fishing. We're now traveling home in o.k. weather. It's a little windy but it's a nice ride. We'll gladly take it.

Though we only had a few over 200, most everyone on board got there personal best and lots and lots of wahoo! And that's how I, Drew, remember it. Now I see what kind of editing and additions I get from Tommy. If anything is spelled wrong he wrote it.

Thats About it. Its pretty difficult to play catch up after 8 days. Tommy.

Hello Everyone, Today we had a full speed bite on the Dorado. One kelp we stopped on had a good hit, but later that day we found an eager school free swimming in the water. The Dorado fishing has been awesome the past couple weeks I hope it stays this good. We will be fishing Yellowtail tomorrow. Wish us luck, Team supreme
