91 yellowfin 138 yellowtail 2 dorado. All it takes is one stop.

After spending all day yesterday searching for yellowtail without success. Today we decided to put the feelers out and look at some new areas. After a couple hours of searching we found exactly what we were looking for. The yellowtail we found today were really active for about an hour. In one hour our 15 anglers managed to put 20 very nice size yellowtail on the deck. Our yellowtail today were caught on yo-yo lures, surface lures as well as fly lined sardines. Make sure you bring a bait rod to go with your yo-yo rod from here on out.

  We had a very busy turn around today.  It was time to change oil and fuel filters and make a repair.  But all is good and we're under way.  Our new computers are getting more and more dialed in.  I now have spell check.  I love sitting back in the chair now and typing these reports.  Not now though because the letters shrunk on me again.  I'm going to have to figure that out.  So here we go again on another 5 day.  Our baits good we think.  Time will always tell.  It's looking like things might get a bit breezy the next few days so we have Cedros in mind.  We're going to fish tuna tomorrow first and then most likely fish the Island the day after for a couple days and let the weather come down before finishing up in tuna land for our last day.  That's the game plan at the moment anyway.  Things change out here all the time though.  In the end we just take it one day at a time.

  The official weigh in is in.  We have Mark weighing in at 231.4 pounds.  And in the left corner we have Justin weighing in at 228.2 pounds.  If your just tuning in, he who loses the most weight by October 1 wins the bet.  I'll keep you posted after each progress report hopefully at the end of each trip.  This excites me.  Competition.  I love it.
         

Good evening everyone, Today we started off the day in kelp land. Finding many nice kelps along a nice water color break. One in particular held a slew of different game fish. Dorado, Wahoo, Yellowtail, and Tuna. Most of them where on the small side, but it was still great fun catching such a variety of fish. Later on we were able to slide inside and finish off the day with some coastal Yellowtail. It was great ending the day with a nice hit on the Yellowtail. Biting the iron very well, adding to the fall 10 day variety pack. We are pointed north at the moment trying to cover some ground to make it in on time Wednesday morning. Today we tried our hand at Wahoo fishing once again. It was not the red hot bite like yesterday but it was still good numbers and unmatched quality of fish. Many 40-60 lb fish. We have to start heading up now. We may have some time to fish Yellowtail tomorrow on our way up. Here we have some victorious anglers after another great hit on Wahoo! Also Andrew with an absolute monster!

 I can't think of a cool way to start this report so I'm just going to say what I feel.  This morning was making me a little nervous.  I thought that our timing was going to be off this trip.  I knew the fish weren't even close to being done for the year but for a couple of days I thought perhaps.  I was wrong.
 This morning we got our fish on.  We were catching plenty.  We started with a couple quicky stops and then had one good one.  The only deal was the fish were on the small side of things.  12 pounders, few smaller, couple bigger.  We were fishing them because at the time, we don't know that we'll find the better grade.  What if we drive away and we never find the bigger ones or another one period?  Anyways, it dried up and we went looking again.  We all got stuffed from lunch and right when we were feeling that it's either nap time or get a pot of coffee brewing we found what we were looking for and we drifted until the day was done.
 It was as good as we ever need fishing to be.  "One stop shop" if you will.  Bent rods all day and constant fish in the pit.  The pit is where the fish is dragged back to get spiked, bled, and tagged before going down into refrigeration until the end of the trip.  It's the busiest place on the boat during a good bite.  We even had a passenger in the pit today helping out when he thought he had his limit.  When I told him we were in American waters and California fish limit regulations apply he was back at the rail catching yellowfin.  We had a good day.
 The weather for the trip is so far so good.  We're going to make a move tonight and look for that bluefin we were catching last trip.

Variety was the theme on our first 3 local fishing trips of the year. Yellowtail , bonito , halibut , calico bass , sand bass , sheephead , lingcod , red rock cod and rockfish were all part of our fish count the past few days. The highlight of our weekend was a yellowtail we caught Sunday morning that was every bit of 30 pounds. The best rigs were a dropper loop with 6 oz. torpedo sinker and a sliding egg sinker rig with a 3/4 oz. Our next trip is on Friday November 23. Call Seaforth at 619-224-3383 for reservations.
