Polaris Supreme Trip Update 10-22-2019 Today was one of those mind numbing days where you just can't believe fishing is that good. We had fantastic fishing on just monster size Wahoo and unbelievable fishing on beautiful big Dorado. We got Wahoo throughout the whole day and Dorado was a steady 2 1/2 hour bite of catch and release with the guys keeping only a few of what they wanted. Both the Dorado and Wahoo are just an absolute premium grade. Beautiful weather again today and will be out offshore again tomorrow looking for those big beautiful kelp patties that produced such a phenomenal day. We had plenty of Wahoo photos but neglected to get one single Dorado photo. You'll just have to believe me it was good and they were big. 51 bass 36 barracuda 1 sheepshead. We spent our day looking for a new zone with better conditions. We saw a couple schools of yellowtail but did not connect. Still enjoyed fun fishing in excellent weather.

Hello everyone, Today we wanted a Yellowtail topper, and a yellowtail topper we got! By no means wide open, but enough yellows to keep everyone busy for a half a day. The hot ticket was the famed blue and white 6x yo yo iron, tried and true for years and still holding strong today. All and all a nice day of yellowtail fishing to round out a great fall 7 day variety trip. It was really something catching Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and Yellowtail all in one trip! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, so after our great Yellowtail topper we pointed the boat northbound to San Diego. We are very far from home so we have another day of travel ahead of us tomorrow Another successful trip logged away here aboard Polaris Supreme! Will report again tomorrow, The Supreme Team. Hello everyone, Today we disembarked on our annual Holeman 10 day trip.It was great to see some familiar faces again. We loaded up on some perfect sardines and were on our way. Pointed south, we spent the day preparing tackle and settling in nicely. Also, the foretasted weather couldn't be any better as we make our two day journey down to the fishing grounds. We plan to finish up our fishing preparation tomorrow. With great company and great food from chef Mike, today was another day in paradise. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

Four big bluefin bit for anglers fishing aboard the Fischbeck Charter aboard the Polaris Supreme with skipper Drew Henderson, and three of them were decked. Drew weighed the fish on the certified scales at Fisherman's Landing July 23 after the five-day trip with 23 anglers. He also weighed an unusual escolar, caught at night. The boat returned with a catch of yellowfin tuna and albacore.
Dick Emerson of Roland Heights won first place for his 134-pound bluefin, and also took over first place for that species on Bill Roecker's big fish list for the season.

Dick said he cranked that baby aboard in only 15 minutes on his single-speed Accurate 665 reel. The tuna took a sardine on a 5/0 Eagle Claw hook, on 60-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader and 50-pound Big Game line. Emerson used a Fenwick 665 rod, he added. Tom Donnelly of San Clemente got second place for a 126-pounder, which will make second on the big fish list. His fish fought for 40 minutes on 60-pound Seaguar Fluoro leader and 60-pound P-Line. Bill Byler of Covina made it a trio of 60-pound Fluoro users, and won third place for his 105.6-pound bluefin, which came on a small Accurate 870 reel.
The escolar came to Jason Severn of Petaluma. The 31-pound, strange-looking critter (some scientists think the escolar may be a progenitor for tuna) bit on a squid that Severn was fishing in the dark.
Skipper Henderson said his anglers were treated to a show of jumping bluefin, many of which were larger than the fish his anglers caught. They didn't want to bite, however, and it didn't take long for a fleet of seiners to show up with their spotter aircraft.

We finished off our trip at the lupe and it was poor. No sign of big fish only small fish. Good weather on our way home. We'll be dock side for a few days and departing on Wednesday for 10 days.

12 bluefin 10 yellowfin. Saw plenty of fish but didn’t connect with the right school. Flylined baits were still the top producer.

July 7

Today was kind of a disapointing day for me. I had plans of having good fishing in the morning at Cedros then heading to Benitos and having descent fishing there. Well the water got funky on us due to the big south swell that was pushed up from the tropical storm that rode it's way up. It was a green green green and the yellows didn't like it. They were still there like they had been for the last week but they didn't bite well. After 4 1/2 hours we gave up on it and went with plan b. We arrived at Benitos after lunch and I will say we saw a good amount of fish all over the island. The problem was the sea lion population. Those things are out of control right now. It's wierd how it works at that island. Sometimes they're tolerable and sometimes they're not. Today they were not. We're headed back to Cedros now and we'll give it another chance tomorrow. This south swell seemed to back off some late today so hopefully there is some strong current through the night tonight to flush all that icky water out of there.

I just reread what I wrote and it sounds worse than it was. We scratched out an ok day. We averaged over 3 fish per rod. Compared to the last week it was slow but back up further and we had a stellar day. See you tomorrow.
