ogden river Fishing Report 2024

Hi friends. Today was a splendid day. We got on a school of those beautiful Bluefin tunas just before lunch and drifted with them until around 1600 hours this afternoon. The grade of fish were those 40-60 lb. beauties and the action on the kite was as good as it gets. The Mustache almost got around to everyone on the kite on just that one stop. They were hittin', boy. Our bait fisher-people did just dandy as well. 50 lb. test with a 4/0 hook, short top-shots, and the liveliest gosh darn Sardine you could find was the key to great success.

Heartbreak of the day went to myself. While getting out a 50/50 wrap with two fish at color, singing Lady Antellbum at a reasonable level, I broke my sour apple chapstick stick. Not cool.

Now that all is said and done, 53 Bluefin rest comfortably in the RSW well that Mustache Man is constantly maintaining between 30 and 32 degrees. He's so responsible. Thanks, Drew.

To top it off, the weather was just dandy and Chef Shawn kept us all fat and happy. Not too much else to report. We're going to give this another try tomorrow and hope that we can get on a school early and drift all day. That's the plan, anyhow. We'll see what happens.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP UPDATE FOR 11-02-2020 TO 11-07-2020 Well what have we been up to the last 6 days? We departed early on day zero, the Second in good weather and with a great group of passengers. The group is a composite of Jim Holeman's group , Stan Vanderburg's , Clarence Cole and friends and a few others. All solid fun anglers. On departure we loaded up some great looking sardines we hope to last 10 days. Stan spent the day passing out an unbelievable amount of give away's and setting up a prize of a rod and reel for the first tuna caught over 30 lbs and a reel for the the first wahoo caught on a home made lure. The weather was beautiful . Day one was a travel day spent doing our usual fishing seminar, Stan passing out more swag, rigging, eating and napping in good weather. Day two started off looking for kelp patty's holding Dorado and Wahoo. After a morning with no luck we deployed our own FAD ( Fish Aggregating Device) with a satellite buoy. Late in the day we got into good fishing on 12 to 40 pound Yellowfin tuna that saved the day. Day three wahoo fishing was pretty good and the tuna was in the 12 to 15 lb. range with no sign of the 20 to 40 lb. one's. Still great weather. Day four we where hoping for a repeat on the wahoo that didn't happen. Saddened by a Sukey morning we busted a move to check out our FAD. Holey Mollee 48 Hour's soaking and the thing was loaded with Dorado! We spent an hour or so catching and releasing before heading to some new tuna grounds. Some of you are wondering why we keep so few Dorado now days? Well you see 2 Dorado count as 5 fish in your over all fish count and most anglers only keep a couple if any at all choosing to catch and release. Arriving at the tuna grounds to slow fishing we where stoked to see it go wide open at dusk making it a great Tuna Dorado day in Slick Calm Weather. Day five making a big move today! Scratched a few Tuna this morning and hit the road trying to beat the massive storm hitting California. Weather is still OK. Will check in in a few days. Good evening everyone, Just finished up a tough day here tuna fishing. Conditions really changed for the worse. With no reason behind it, the fish simply moved out. However this is not a problem, we have simply reverted back to search mode. With everyone spread far and wide trying to cover the vast ocean, we are bound to find something soon. However this does conclude our trip. We would like to thank LETS TALK HOOK UP! for putting on this four day and look forward to next year! Today's count may be low but our spirits are high, and looking forward to looking tomorrow! wish us luck, Team Supreme

Tax evasion. Today had a slow start but really heated up after noon. It was more of the same when it came to the sharks, but the second half of the day we really got on these fish when we had the opportunity. Pulling hard the whole time and bringing in some nice fish through the sharks. Here we have Aiden with a great Tuna he was able to pull away from the tax man! (aka Shark) Way to get on him Aiden!

Good evening from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. We departed this evening at 1600 on our Ocean Tackle Research 16.5 day charter. It's really nice to have this group of guys back on the boat.  With Charter Masters Lon Mikkelson and John Essler having run 10 day charters for well over a decade, they decided to step it up this year and chase the big cows.  This group is certainly well experienced in pulling on big fish, so it's gonna be a great time for them and the crew as well.

                Today we had a little bit of a late breakfast, followed by quick little wahoo seminar and did some mellow tackle rigging.  The weather is fair, not a total flat ride, but it's bearable. Heading downswell is usually never bad.  The rest of the afternoon we just spent catching up with the guys, doing some boat chores and eating some good food.  Tomorrow looks to be pretty much the same schedule, so check back in then.  For now, this is Team Supreme checking out.
