ocmd Fishing Report 2024

Skipper Drew Henderson took a look at the San Benitos Islands on a four-day Polaris Supreme trip with 24 anglers. He arrived in the afternoon to find fair to good fishing and some seals that were hungry but not ravenous. He said his anglers got yellowtail there up to 30 pounds. Next day he fished at Cedros Island.
"We got 80 big ones there," he said, "at the South End." Eric Thomas of Palmdale won first place for a 46.8-pound yellowtail. He bagged it with a sardine on a 5/0 Eagle Claw hook and 50-pound Big Game Line. Thomas fished with a Trinidad 40 reel and a Calstar 6460 H rod. He said he got the big ‚Дтtail in 15 minutes.
Shannon Nutt of Palmdale was second for a 37.8-pounder, and Edward Agadjanian of Glendale, home of Newell reels, said he used a Newell reel to take his third place 34.8-pound yellowtail.

1 yellowtail 31 calico bass 82 whitefish 2 sheepshead. Conditions seem to be improving daily but the fish we see are still in a funk. What we’re seeing as far as water temperature, color and current is “text book” for good fishing, only time will tell.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-06-2016 Hello everyone our morning started off with something different around the boat as we started our day of fishing for the bluefin tuna. What was it? Squid!! And yes we scooped up some to use for bait. sure enough we put it to good use with our first bluefin tuna of the morning being hooded on it. With live squid and sardines we did well today. Like Art Gutierrez landing a bluefin tuna over 90 pounds after a long and hard battle. most of the fish were 60-90 pounds. And yes we did have several heartbreaks which is part of the game with fish of this size. But we did land our fair share today. Great fishing all around. Hooked 10, but they are mean and like to destroy your gear. Ended with 4 Bluefin all around #70 pounds for our 5 anglers. 

Hello Everyone, Today spent the morning catching some great premium Yellowtail with some Bluefin mixed in. The second half of the day was spent searching for larger grade Bluefin Tuna. We eventually found an area of larger fish. Ranging in size from 50-130lbs. We managed to land 2 in the 60 lb class. Nice to see that there are still larger ones around. Hey everyone, Today was our fourth and final full day of fishing down south. We started off the morning looking for wahoo. It did not take long before we found a nest of hungry 'hoos. We made a few passes over them and picked off a handful each time. We even had a few marlin mixed in with the wahoo that put on quite a show. By the late morning the wahoo bite slowed down and we began to look around for other signs of life. It did not take long before we found a large school of yellowfin and they stayed with us until the sun went down, with 2-5 fish hanging the whole time they kept us plenty busy all afternoon. With sore arms and smiles on everyone's faces we sat down for dinner and enjoyed a delicious plate of fresh fish, thanks to the charter master who generously donated one of his fish. With a couple hours of fishing time left for the trip we are going to spend it looking for yellowtail as we begin to make our way north back to San Diego. Until next time, Team Supreme
