neuse river Fishing Report 2024

 It was a rather slow day out here for us.  Not miserably slow but it definitely could've been better.  I'll just break it down for you so you know what I call a slow day.  We caught 68 yellowtail, 4 bonito, 6 barracuda, 4 calico bass, 8 sand bass, 6 Sheepshead, 4 oceanic whitefish, 5 vermilion rock fish and 6 unspecified rock fish.  We let some go too.  We threw in the towel around 3:00.  I may have a trick up my sleeve.  I may tell you about it tomorrow.  Anyways, we left the grounds because they're calling for wind here tomorrow and we hate wind with a passion out here on the ocean.  I don't even like it on land.  We're going to a less windy spot.  I'm just not sure where yet.  Find out tomorrow. 

 The weather now is fantastic.  Very little wind and along with that comes very little sea state.  It's nice.  Steamy too.  You should see Mark's shirt.  It looks like he fell in the water.  I offered anyone 20 dollars to wear it today but I got no takers.
       

Capt Ryan called in from the San Diego a 3/4 day, we are still fishing offshore and the fishing hass been great. We depart at 5:30am and we have been averaging from 50 to 140 Yellowfin Tuna per trip, our slowest day this week was 46 Yellowfin and today we had 69 Yellowfin and 150 Skipjack. Yesterday we had 136 Yellowfin, we will continue everyday as long as the fishing stays good. There is plenty of warm water around and it looks like it will be here for a while, so we will continue offshore for a while. There is plenty of good fishing when you find the right kelp, trips run $145 per angler and we depart everyday at 5:30am. Come on down and get in on the action.

Captain Alyar called in this morning with a wrap-up report from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. We ended our trip with 22 Bluefin Tuna, 41 Yellowtail and 6 Dorado.

We do have a 1.5 day trip departing Sunday night. We have a very light load and are a definite go. Call Seaforth or BOOK ONLINE.

Be sure to bring 20, 25 and 30 pound floor and small hooks. The Bluefin we caught today were between 15 and 40 pounds.

We got a little bit of something throughout the whole day. Everywhere we went we got yellowtail, but no real bug hits. Our morning bite had great quality but not as many as yesterday. Our weather is still good because of the island. Tomorrow we will be in open water on patties looking for dorado, tuna and yellowtail. Great fresh yellowtail and shrimp scampi for dinner. Today our 30 anglers were treated to a 6 hour drift which resulted in 33 bluefin tuna from 60 to 100 pounds and 1 twenty pound yellowfin. We managed to keep 1-8 fish hooked at all times. Our bites were coming on 40&50 lb flyline sardines and 130-160 gram Shimano Flatfalls as well as 100 gram Shimano Colt snipers. TIP FROM THE CREW: In order to keep the deck clean and safe. We rinse with a saltwater hose constantly. Wearing rubber boots or waterproof shoes is recommended.

Capt Ryan Bostain of the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing with a Coronado Islands update, 25 anglers and caught 111 Yellowtail from 10 to 30 pounds. The best fishing we have had this year, so get your bring a 25 pound live bait rod and some 4/0 hooks and some sliding egg sinkers for the mackeral. We got some on flylined anchovies and some fish bit the surface iron. Bring all your Yellowtail gear and come on down, we run the trips every day. Fishing is very technical now. Lots of Tuna but mainly being hooked with a well placed cast in a Tuna foamer. 

They are mainly biting surface lures.

Colt sniper stick baits 

Poppers 

Colt sniper jigs 

Tady 45 or Salas 7x surface irons 

Be ready to cast and be ready for action.

Hello everyone, Today we had a hit on the better grade Bluefin Tuna. They were 30-40lbers, beautiful fish. There was also some Yellowtail and Yellowfin mixed in as well. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to catch some Bluefin to add some variety and size to the fish hold. Will report again later, Team Supreme
