Pretty good sign of yellowtail for the first few hours in the morning. They were up boiling around good and showing on the machines but we were having trouble getting them to settle with the boat. We'd hook a few here and a whack there but nothing steady. We saw a couple more schools through out the day but it was the same thing. Nothing would settle. It was racing up and down the island. We ended the day 5 fish a rod of the jumbo quality and decided to head up the line to fish albacore the day after tomorrow. We should have good working weather so we're hoping the fish are chewing when we get there.

Capt Ryan Bostain of the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing with a Coronado Islands update, 25 anglers and caught 111 Yellowtail from 10 to 30 pounds. The best fishing we have had this year, so get your bring a 25 pound live bait rod and some 4/0 hooks and some sliding egg sinkers for the mackeral. We got some on flylined anchovies and some fish bit the surface iron. Bring all your Yellowtail gear and come on down, we run the trips every day. Here is a suggested tackle list for our 5:30 - 5:00 Coronado island trips for February and March. (1) a yo-yo outfit, this outfit should be a 20 or 30 size reel spooled with 40 lb. monofilament. Any 6 - 8 ft. rod rated for 40 lb. will work good. (2) Deep water cod rod. This outfit should be a 20 or 30 size reel spooled with 65 or 80 lb. spectra. Any 6-8 ft. rod capable of handling a 16 oz. sinker will work good. (3) a 25 or 30 lb. live bait outfit. This outfit should be a 20 size reel spooled with 25 or 30 lb. monofilament. A 7-8 ft. Rod rated for 25-30 lb. will be perfect. TERMINAL TACKLE. An assortment of torpedo sinkers from 6-16 ounces. A dozen rockcod hooks. We really like Mustad EZ baiters in the 10/0 size. A pack of size 2/0 live bait hooks. We really like Mustad 94150 A couple of heavy lures. Salas 6x jr and Salas 6x in blue/white and scrambled egg are perfect. Most of our trips we have been fishing deep water in the morning and shallow water in the afternoon. As soon as we see yellowtail the rock fishing will take a back seat.

Hello everyone, Today we had a hit on the better grade Bluefin Tuna. They were 30-40lbers, beautiful fish. There was also some Yellowtail and Yellowfin mixed in as well. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to catch some Bluefin to add some variety and size to the fish hold. Will report again later, Team Supreme

Hello everyone, 

fishing down south is on fire right now. Lots of 20-40 lb tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Yellowtail, and even big Grouper! 

Here is a monster 122 lb Gulf Grouper caught on the last 8 day! It ate a whole skipjack tuna for bait! 

There are only a few more spots open on the remaining 7 and 8 day trips. Jump on while they are biting!

Hello friends. Another day here on the Yellowtail grounds and we had yet again, another fine morning fishing. It wasn't the hottest of bites, but it was a nice pick at some 12-20 lb. Yellowtail for our morning efforts. When the bite had shut down, we made a move and dodged the wind that was chasing us down like a we had taken Mother Nature's purse and made it into some calmer water to try our luck with some exotics. We hooked a few and landed a couple and when all was said and done, a couple of Broomtail Groupers and a nice Halibut laid victim to our offerings and are currently en route back to San Diego for a date with the dinner table. We enjoyed ourselves a fine meal in the calm waters of one of our favorite hangouts and once the last ice cream sundae was served, we had to make turns back for San Diego.

With that said, the boats that have been motoring up the line have been making terrible speed up the line, so we're just going to take a nice, easy course up the line and see what happens with our speed. If we make good speed, we'll do a little fishing. If not, we'll bundle everything up and get this ship back in to shape while the passengers watch movies, read books, nap and eat. We're shooting for an ETA back to the dock at around 0800 hours. Thanks for checking in.
