merced river Fishing Report 2025

After spending all day yesterday searching for yellowtail without success. Today we decided to put the feelers out and look at some new areas. After a couple hours of searching we found exactly what we were looking for. The yellowtail we found today were really active for about an hour. In one hour our 15 anglers managed to put 20 very nice size yellowtail on the deck. Our yellowtail today were caught on yo-yo lures, surface lures as well as fly lined sardines. Make sure you bring a bait rod to go with your yo-yo rod from here on out.

The morning started our ok. We scratched yellows for about 4 hours and kelps patties. Little sign of dorado. As the day progressed it got tougher with few patties. Overall it was a slow day.

Our weather is still great. Tomorrow we our on our way to do some Island fishing. Wish us luck.

Looks like we're going to have a light load for tomorrow's trip. I just talked to a boat out on the ocean right now and they said the weather is good. The large swell is very spread out making the ocean conditions nice. Myself and the crew will be heading out tonight for live squid. Call Seaforth at 619-224-3383 for reservations !

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-20-2016 Yesterday did not turn out like we had hoped we spent the better part of the day looking for kelp's with no luck. We just did not have the right track traveling down. We ended up scratching a few nice yellows but overall besides the weather, today was disappointing fishing wise. This morning isn't starting off to great we rounded the corner to our destination and watched the water dropped 2°. Were sitting here in the gray light hoping that the yellowtail didn't notice it! We do have a fallback plan I certainly hope we don't have to use it! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Hello Supreme fans. We have finally hit our stride and started fishing.Unfortunately it happened to be right in the midst of some extremely tough fishing. Our first trip of the year was an Open party three day trip. We spent the three day searching the ocean for biting tuna as well as some inshore action. The tuna fishing was really slow but full of lots of spots of fish, and they were BIG. Bluefin well into the 150 lb class were around but not biting. We chipped away at some inshore fish and were able to put together a nice catch of quality Reds and Lingcod from the bottom. However the star of the show was hands down the jackpot fish. A 130lb Bluefin Tuna, a hard earned fish that ended in victory! These fish were big and did not make it easy to hook them or land them. Their size, abrasive teeth, and unwillingness to bite created quite the challenge.We did managed to hook 5 fish and only landed one. We are out on a two day after Independence day. Wish us Luck! Polaris Supreme arrived under Drew Henderson's hand October 27 after a ten-day trip with 20 anglers that visited the southern banks, an offshore kelp area and Cedros Island. Drew tied the rig at Fisherman's Landing and weighed the best of his catch. "We had good fishing the first day at the banks," he said, "until about eight in the morning. Then we had a good sunsetter. We got yellowtail on the 23, and about a dozen wahoo on offshore kelps. We had good dorado fishing on the kelps." The trip's best yellowtail was a 45.3-pound mossback caught at Cedros Island by Stan Katkansky of Lincoln City, OR. "I got him on a mackerel," said Stan, "on 60-pound line."

The Sat phone in down on the Polaris Supreme, but through the old fashion way I have a report that they are doing well. Nice quality fish with three at or over 200 lbs. and another nine between 100-150 lbs.

Weather has been a little windy and rolly, but has greatly improved by this morning. We'll keep you updated as best as possible as I get the reports.

One day trip 21 yellowtail, 11 dorado, 4 bluefin tuna, 2 yellowfin tuna. Fun day, back out tonight !
