We spent our last day looking at school after school of albacore. A very good sign of no biting fish. Frustrating? Yes. Oh well. That's just how it goes sometimes. A very good trip in all. Thanks to everyone on board and to the charter master Wayne Martin with Catchy Tackle lures. We'll be rolling back out tomorrow on another 5 day trip. Stay tuned.

39 yellowfin 69 skipjack. If we get into a hot and heavy stop it is important to work together as a team. The crew and captain are the coaches, the passengers are the players. Communicate with each other. Anticipate that you will be moving around the boat, whether you have a fish on or not. Be aware that you are not the only person on the boat. Listen to the crew. And most importantly have fun. Team work makes the dream work.

Hello everyone, Today we wanted a Yellowtail topper, and a yellowtail topper we got! By no means wide open, but enough yellows to keep everyone busy for a half a day. The hot ticket was the famed blue and white 6x yo yo iron, tried and true for years and still holding strong today. All and all a nice day of yellowtail fishing to round out a great fall 7 day variety trip. It was really something catching Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado, and Yellowtail all in one trip! Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, so after our great Yellowtail topper we pointed the boat northbound to San Diego. We are very far from home so we have another day of travel ahead of us tomorrow Another successful trip logged away here aboard Polaris Supreme! Will report again tomorrow, The Supreme Team. Today was filled with a lot of action and success. We had a lot of bites but also many shark casualties as well. Our solution pull until the line breaks or the fish is on the boat. In the process we were able to rule out certain 1/0 hooks that were not strong enough for the tuna we are catching and learn how hard we could truly pull on these fish.

From the hustle we were able to boat enough fish to make this our best day thus far, and stream line our gear selection.

Sep. 20

11:00 am report. Well we did as planned and found the mega school of awesome grade yellowfin and topped off on those things. If you remember our first days report we had a very good morning on them so we just needed a topper and that's what we did. The way this yellowfin fishing has been in the month of September in the area we fished is that there seems to be one mega school of it. It was as good as it gets. It wasn't long at all before we were straight releasing everything we hooked. Fun fun fun! Well needless to say we're in bluefin/dorado mode the rest of today and tomorrow. We have a mast rotation going and I'm sure the passengers have a nap rotation going. The weather is great and I'll finish my report later in the next paragraph.

It's later. We never found any bluefin or dorado. We had many more stops on mixed grades of yellowfin which all went back in the ocean to live to fight again and make babies and stuff. So we'll spend tomorrow looking for the blue dogs and the super colorful ones and then we'll head for home.

For some reason there is 1 spot available on our Accurate sponsored 8 day trip departing Oct. 12th. Weird but yes, 1 spot still available so get off your butts one of you and let's go fishing. We also need to get some of you to go fishing on our 12 day leaving on Dec. 2nd. That trip is cool because if there is 200 + pound yellowfin at the lower banks you get to fish them for up to 7 days! And if they aren't around there at that time there is still plenty of time to get down below to the Hurricane Bank and catch them down that way too along with the wahoos. So let's go people!

 

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 08-07-2012

Absolutely gorgeous flat calm weather today. And that was the key to pulling the rabbit out of the hat at the end of the day. Definitely a slow start from morning through mid-day. But in the afternoon it was game on, on light breezers of yellowfin tuna. The schools probably only held 50 fish each and were really, really hard to see. Just barely making the lightest ripple on the water. The challenge of it made it really fun for Drew and I trying to spot them. Especially since they immediately bum rushed the boat when we slid on them. And everybody hooked one right off the bat. If you were quick, you got two before it was all over. And then off we were to find another school. The fast pace was very exciting after the last two days of plunker fishing. We fished late so we will have a late arrival tomorrow, probably around 9:00 am. We will get out an update on jackpot contenders and then for the next 3-day, Captain Drew will be out with the Prince of Words, Richie, doing the updates.
