It wasn't a float day today. We had some action spread out through the day though. We got about 3 a round on the elusive Bluefins and did plenty of pulling and tugging on yellow tails. The weather was once again spectacular and we're expecting some pretty good weather tomorrow as well. Not as perfect as the last couple of days but still good. We'll be doing this again tomorrow and if the bf's stay on the same schedule it should be a float day. We'll see and you'll read. See you then.

Hello and good morning! We will be pulling into the dock in a couple of hours off of our 3 day open group. The fishing was tough and you had to work hard to put a fish on board. This group was one of the hardest fishing and courteous toward each other group I have ever fished with. Good job Katrina and Guy's . We will be at the dock for 3 days before resuming our season. The skinnys got some speed! Today was definitely a grind, but it eventually did ignite! We were able to catch some large Wahoo today. Wahoo fishing was a first for many people on this charter. Today they got to see first hand how crazy and fast pace it could be. However through the chaos they realized truly how exhilarating these fish are to catch. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

Hello Everyone Today fishing was slow. We spent the day offshore looking around for any warm water fish that wanted to play. Unfortunately we only were able to land a few small Yellowfin Tuna. On the bright side we have superstar pizza chef Joe Gigliotti aboard and today. He decided to grace us with his pizza talent. He whipped up more pizzas than you could shake a stick at with so many topping combinations that it would make the Poppa Johns R and D department have to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to even have a chance of keeping up. It truly seemed like the endless lunch, always finding room for one more slice, and another and another. Fishing was slow but the pizzas were coming in HOT and often! Captain Ryan Bostian called in this evening with an update from “The San Diego.” We had Captain Cameron running the boat today. We had 26 anglers catch 54 Yellowtail and 2 Bluefin Tuna. We got the big boys today. Our Bluefin Tuna weighed in at 119 and 112 pounds. We had about ten bites and landed two. RECOMMENDED TACKLE 25 pound bait rod - 25 pound mono with a short 25 pound fluorocarbon. This outfit is excellent for the Yellowtail and smaller Bluefin Tuna. Be sure to use 1 or 1o hooks. 50 pound bait rod - 50 pound mono with a short 50 pound fluorocarbon leader. You will need 2o hooks for your heavy bait rod. Flat Fall rod - 7 or 8 foot rod with a Talica 12 or Talica 16. Use 65 or 80 pound spectra with a short 80 fluorocarbon leader. Make sure to have your Shimano Flatfall 200 or 250 gram model.

Drew Henderson brought Tommy Rothery's Polaris Supreme home after a five-day trip with 24 anglers to Guadalupe Island. He said he got some fish at Westy's Hole, but the sharks were bad there. Marco Ramirez of Torrance won first place for a 74.8-pound tuna. He nabbed the yellowfin on a sardine and a 2/0 Gamakatsu hook. He said he used 40-pound Seaguar fluoprocarbon and 80-pound Power Pro Spectra on a Sealine 50 reel and a five and a half-foot Lamiglas rod. He remarked that he almost got too tired to reel during the one-hour fight. Michael Rayner of LA was second, for a 71.2-pounder, and Rodger Kang of Fresno tied him with a tuna of exactly the same size.

We had an awesome 1.5 trip on the Apollo out of Fisherman's Landing. We left Friday night at 7 pm and headed to Punta Colnett. Weather was very nice, calm and glassy. We started fishing for Yellowtail in the early morning but no biter. We preceded fishing for Rockfish. We drifted every hot spots that Captain JJ knew and they were all very productive. We came up with lots of good quality Vermilion Reds, Lingcod and Bocaccio Rockfish. At about 3 in the afternoon, Yellowtail breezers came through and all six of us got hooked with our rockcod gangnion hooks. We ended with two 25 lbs Yellows. Next time I'll be ready. We fished until almost dark and we bagged 125 Vermillion Reds, 98 Rock cod, 25 Lingcod and 2 Yellowtail for 25 guys. Captain JJ runs a top notch operation together with Jessica, Joe, Travis and Chef Nick. They were all very professional and helpful at all times. Chef Nick serves all variety of gourmet food on the boat. Apollo will be still running trips in Fisherman's Landing until end of March and will move to Santa Barbara on April. Don't miss our overnight charter trip on Sunday, April 3rd departing Saturday at 10 pm.
