Captain Ryan Bostian checked in tonight with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we had 33 passengers catch 165 Yellowtail (10 to 25 pounds), 4 Dorado and 19 Bonito. Please come prepared with an assortment of bait rods 20 to 50 pounds. Today we had a very memorable stop!

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. We fished at the Coronado Islands yesterday. It was our first trip at the Islands for a months. We had 13 anglers and we had full limits of Yellowtail on our first stop of the day. We had excellent fishing for Yellowtail, Bonito and Calico Bass. They were biting on surface iron and fly-lined baits.

The loads are light. We had two reservations for tomorrow so we should have plenty of room on the boat.

After another slow day offshore. We have decided to make Monday and Tuesday an island trip. We will be targeting yellowtail, kelp bass, barracuda and we even heard of a bluefin sighting today. Summer island tackle consists of a 25 lb bait rod, a 40 lb yo-yo rod, your favorite jig stick and your favorite kelp bass rod. Passports are required. Reservations are light but both trips are a definite go.

July 18
 Slow day today. We didn't catch much fish due to the lack of current everywhere. We started in yesterdays honey hole for us. We caught one. Then we took a tour. Our next stop was the mainland. We caught one. No current. We then took another tour pretty much for the rest of the day. We did get 1st and 2nd place of the jackpot handled during one of our stops. A couple 35-40 pounders. We caught a few yellows here and there through out the day but nothing special.

What was special was our weather today. Flat calm, no wind, and sunny and beautiful. We looked at a lot of this Island today and I thought it was lovely. I don't think it would have been so enjoyable had we not had two full fish holds already. But we did so it was. Now we're headed up and it couldn't be nicer. Hopefully that storm out there won't effect our ride tomorrow. I want this out here forever.

Hello everyone, Today we spent another day targeting quality Wahoo and school sized tuna. We did great, picking at the Wahoo the majority coming on live bait. The bombs and jigs seem somewhat dormant at the moment, but we're not complaining because fish are coming aboard! At times there is an incredible amount of life out here. From the Wahoo, Skipjack, Yellowfin, Triggerfish, and more. The volume of life makes it difficult to hook the targeted Wahoo and bigger Tuna. So there is quite a bit of weeding out of the small yellowfin and other species in order to get what we came here for. Aside from Tuna and Wahoo we had an unexpected jag of Dorado swim through today. We landed a handful of the larger models to add to the fall variety pack here aboard Polaris Supreme. We are heading up tonight in hopes of a Yellowtail topper tomorrow morning. Wish us luck! The first annual Ocean Tackle Research trip aboard Polaris Supreme returned with skipper Tom Rothery and chartermaster Lon Mikkelsen November 19. The ten-day trip had 20 anglers. "We caught a lot of variety and had good fishing," said Mikkelsen, from Hood River, OR. "We also caught a lot of 40-pound Humboldt squid. The best fishing was on kelp paddies in the warmer water. "We're testing some new OTR jigs," he continued, "and they got bit." Rothery weighed the contenders on the Fisherman's landing certified scales. Clint Campbell of Bozeman, MT won first place for a 65.95-pound wahoo he caught ona silver and pink Raider jig. He said he used 40-pound P-Line, a Daiwa Saltist 30 reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod. Jon Collins of Menifee won second place for a 52.6-pound skin that bit a pink Catchy Tackle bomb. Collins brought his son into the photo to show off a big dorado. Randy Walker of Huntington Beach was third, for a 48-pound wahoo that snapped up a gold Raider.

Oct. 17
 I think I'm happy with today. Another dorado kelp sure would have been nice though. When I told the other boats we were fishing with what we caught today, they all said good going on your day so I guess I can't complain.

We started off at San Clemente Island yellowtail hunting. It was pretty darn slow first thing. We gave it a while staying patient but we could only take so much, so we explored. For nothing. By mid morning I was concerned I'd be giving the Jackpot money back. No cause for worry though. We went back to our morning spot and the handful of other boats that were chilling there bailed out so we tried it again. We stayed steady for a while catching yellers. Mostly smaller ones though but with a sprinkling of nice ones. It quit biting at lunch so we went looking for a dorado kelp. We found one. It had a great big ball of flats on it. Nice ones too. Some would call them !@#$ slappers. It could've hung around longer but we caught a couple per rod while they were around. We also caught a wahoo. Perhaps the first wahoo this boat has ever caught in American waters. I'm willing to bet good money on it.

And that was pretty much our day as far as catching goes. We fished more. We tried our yellowtail honey hole again but it didn't work out. I think we planned it out good though. We fished a lot. Not a whole lot of long periods of driving like you can get on straight offshore days. We'll be in tomorrow and I'm not sure when we're coming back out. That all depends on you. Whether or not you go 1.5 day fishing with us. Regardless we'll be back out Nov. 8 on a 10 day. Which by the way, you can still book on that son of a gun too.
