galveston east bay Fishing Report 2025

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this evening with an update from the Tribute. Today we had limits of Lingcod with many of them over 20 pounds. The jackpot fish should be around 30 pounds. We also had limits of rockfish including some very nice reds. We did catch some nice whitefish too.The Tribute is running 1.5 day trips to Colonett every weekend departing on Friday nights. Strong south wind made things interesting today but we’re able to find a lucky kelp in the bottom of the ninth. We managed our quota of green dorado and 16 yellowtail.

Our good morning has continued on and it's been absplutely great fishing here." Mike continued, "So far we have limits of Yellowtail & 150 Yellowfin tuna. The fishing is very good, the kelp fishing is very good & there is really nice weather to go with it. The weather is supposed to continue for the next few days.

Captian Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update form the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today we had 38 anglers catch 28 Yellowtail. The grounds were a little crowded today. Bring a yo-yo rod, a 20 or 25 lb. bait rod. If you are a surface iron fishermen there has been plenty of opportunities.

I missed a few days. I apologize. After we left Cedros we ran up the line to fish a day offshore. We hit a couple good kelps and a few kelps that we scratched good off of and ended the day with good numbers on yellowtail and dorado. We finished our last day fishing for albacore. A slow day. We saw a little bit of fish all day long and a couple of schools through out the day. We ended the day good with a bite right before dark. We're heading in now leaving tomorrow on another 5-day.

Our final day went perfectly as planned. We fished a few hours drifting for cod in flat calm weather. Good red and ling cod fishing. We then shot outside and found a couple kelps holding some nice grade yellowtail and a few dorado. We enjoyed a nice easy ride home and spent the rest of the day lounging, cleaning, some read, watched movies and some took naps. We get in tomorrow at 7:30, unload, load and the big guy takes her back out for 4 days. We're out. Stay classy San Diego
