Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-29-2018 Another fantastic day of fishing from the time we got up at 530 until the time we left the island at one p.m. It's incredible what a great trip we have had here at Guadalupe. Most of the fish are in the 80 pound range with a few towards 150 and a few smaller. We normally can stay here at the island until dark but our forecast weather does not look good! We took off early so we could get a decent ride home at least in the beginning On the subject of who were the hot sticks on the boat! It was the people number one that had the skills but also were fishing 50 to 80 pound Spectra backing 50 to to 60 pound top shots of Mono with 50 or 60 pound flouro carbon leaders and a 3/0 to 5/0 circle or standard designer. We will try to give your report tomorrow but I can tell you next group bring your windbreaker! The Polaris Supreme Crew.

Captain Shane just called in with 30 Bluefin, most in the 40-70 pound range. We go again tonight and there’s still room available.

Had an insane stop on Long range size Yellowfin. 3 hours later we ended up with 11 fish. Lost as many. Had 7 going at once, for our 6 anglers! Good stuff

Hello Everyone, It has been pretty action packed today. Starting with biting Yellowfin Tuna in the dark then, changing to picking at Grouper and Wahoo during the day. Now settling back into a night time pick on the Yellowfin Tuna. It seems like there is always something going on. We are loving the variety and cannot wait for what tomorrow brings.  Yesterday morning I was looking at the positions and forecasts of positions and conditions of hurricane Odile and it sure looked to me like we'd be able to go around it that night.  So after consulting with Tommy, he did some research and he agreed.  And by dark yesterday I was 95 percent sure we could do it.  Not enough.  We need 100 percent out here.  So we headed straight west most of the night until I got an update on the storm at 2:00 am which made me 100 percent sure we could easily make it around the storm.  So we hung a left and we've been traveling all day heading for Alijos Rocks.  We had some choppy weather this morning but we couldn't tell by our ride because we were going with it.  Down swell = a good ride.  The weather is nice now that I write this and we're expecting the same the next few days at least.

 We usually expect a couple travel days on an 8 day trip and today was one of ours.  We did try really hard though to find a nice big dorado kelp but we were unsuccessful.  The only kelps we found weren't big enough to hold a school of mahi.  So we'll have to do it tomorrow or the next day.  Or the next, OK.  We'll be concentrating on wahoo first thing tomorrow. We'll be saying our wahoo prayers tonight.  I'll check back later.

                Hello everyone and welcome.  We are back in action.  I'm sorry we had to take some time off but the baby missed her daddy.  The Syd monster held up the whole operation.  After a week with me though she said "OK dad, you can go now".  You see, she understands dad has a mortgage to pay.  OK, enough of that.  We departed this evening for a quickie.  1.5 days.  We have bait.  We got quite a bit more than I thought we would out of our one box.  It's pretty much straight mackerel though.  There's some sardine but not a lot.  We'll see how they like them.  They are the bluefin.  We chose to hunt the blues.  They're such a nice grade of fish.  Better than the 5 pound yellowfin that's around.  Here we go again.

                                                                                                               

 

Hello Everyone, We had another great day out here. A nice hit on Wahoo, better grade Dorado, and a great evening bite on 30 lb Yellowfin tuna. Oh Yes and some Grouper mixed in to keep things interesting. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings. Will report then, Team Supreme

Hello everyone Today we had a nice day of fishing. We were able to get a nice morning hit on these Bluefin Tuna. Today they were not only 20-40lbers. We hooked some larger models in the 80 lb range. We did not land them due to long battles on 20-25 lb test. At least we know they are here and ready to catch! We will be trying here tomorrow for one more day before the wind picks up.
