The San Diego out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego,CA checked in with us today:

7 yellowtail 150 assorted bottom critters. Still seeing enough yellowtail to get a big hit just waiting for them to act up.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-08-2016 Hello and good morning anglers. We departed today on Bill Stephens annual five-day charter with 23 happy anglers. A quick stop at the bait receivers netted us a nice load of sardines. We are currently heading south in good weather and looking forward to starting fishing tomorrow.  "Just what the doctor ordered".  We had a great afternoon out here on the Polaris Supreme today.  It was a slow morning but a strong afternoon.  We started where we had to.  For one we were there at sunrise and for two we had to keep it honest due to the previous good fishing there several days ago.  It wasn't happening so we took off and arrived to the promise land after lunch.  It started off with a wahoo strike that turned into a wide open tuna bite with wahoo mixed in too.  We ended that drift with 14 skin and 60+ tuna.  Action baby.  Just what we needed after yesterday.  After that we were in full wahoo mode but they were hanging with the tuna so while we would catch wahoo we"d catch tuna too.  The perfect scenario until you have limits of tuna.  We're not quite there yet but we're close.  We opted to stay another day to finish off our tuna quota and see if we can get some more wahoo.  That also gives the Rocks another days rest as well.

 The wind finally backed off today.  For the past few days we had windy/choppy weather with a current going against it which adds to the choppiness and makes anchor fishing uncomfty.  We handled it those days but today it was just nice.  We're all stoked.  Like I said, "just what the doctor ordered".
        

Osterkamp charter had to work hard for every bite but in the end we achieved our goal. (1) made it home safe. (2) enjoy the ocean with friends and family. (3) every one of our 43 customers caught a fish as we ended with 61 yellowfin tuna.

Captian Ryan Bostian reported that the San Diego had a good day at the island. Today we had 62 Yellowtail and there were some nice quality. Look at the photo!

Quick turn around! Quick Check in! We turned around today on our Simpatico 5 day charter in record time! Great jump on everything and now currently in route to Guadalupe. Looking like a great eta tomorrow. Pictured here is a Wahoo caught last trip! Even some skinnies at the Island!

Captain Ryan Bostian called in this evening with an update from “The San Diego.” We had Captain Cameron running the boat today. We had 26 anglers catch 54 Yellowtail and 2 Bluefin Tuna. We got the big boys today. Our Bluefin Tuna weighed in at 119 and 112 pounds. We had about ten bites and landed two. RECOMMENDED TACKLE 25 pound bait rod - 25 pound mono with a short 25 pound fluorocarbon. This outfit is excellent for the Yellowtail and smaller Bluefin Tuna. Be sure to use 1 or 1o hooks. 50 pound bait rod - 50 pound mono with a short 50 pound fluorocarbon leader. You will need 2o hooks for your heavy bait rod. Flat Fall rod - 7 or 8 foot rod with a Talica 12 or Talica 16. Use 65 or 80 pound spectra with a short 80 fluorocarbon leader. Make sure to have your Shimano Flatfall 200 or 250 gram model.

Hello friends and a very happy Sunday to all of you back on the beach. We departed Fisherman's Landing around 14:00 hours today on the Joe Beck/Mal Wagstaff 6-day adventure with plenty of familiar faces and a few new ones to spice things up. Our stop at the bait receiver went a little bit better today and although it's not the best bait we've ever seen, it's a lot better than what we loaded up on Tuesday. At this point, we'll take it and we'll be keeping a close eye on their well-being throughout the night.

Other than that, we've been enjoying a nice ride out to the Bluefin grounds and our activities have been pretty standard for a departure day. Rigging tackle, napping, eating, seminars, and catching up with old friends and new ones alike. Chefs Schooler and Shawn just finished up the dinner serving of prime rib, baked potatoes, peas, and sorbet for dessert.With that being said, we're going to cash in for the evening and get ready for tomorrows fishing adventure to begin.

We'll be in the upper end of the Bluefin zone around mid-morning and the scores for the boats in the area were decent. It sounds like that 50-70 lb. BFT was biting a little bit and a few schools of 25-40 lb. fish were around too, so we'll see if we can't get ourselves some of that.
