barr lake Fishing Report 2025

The Apollo had great fishing today. Limits of Red and Chucks including 24 Lingcod. Plus a nice bonus 24 pound Halibut. The weather is great, finally!

Aug 7
 Well, our best fishing today came from the zone where all of our offshore fishing has been this year.  No surprise there.  I wish we would have stayed in that zone longer, but for the past week, anyone on there last day of there trip has been complaining about there speed going up.  "Oh it's soo slow", "we're driving through mud", "make sure you give yourself plenty of extra time", etcetera, etcetera.  So we planned on that.  We fished with our watch today.  But that never happened.  We never did slow down.  Unfortunately, by planning on it, it put us in this years desert zone.  The zone with no fish.  Beautiful water, no fish.  But things have to change right?  Right.  Just not today.  Oh well.  At least our first 2 days were good ones.  Oh, and the weather was good.  That always helps.

 We'll be in tomorrow and Tommy will be coming back out for 5.  I'm going home.  What will I do?  Spend every minute with my beautiful daughter except for the 4 1/2 hours spent on the golf course.  I will miss writing to you folks though.  I enjoy telling you what's on my mind.  I sugar coat nothing.  See you all in 5 days.
     

We had a nice afternoon hooking fish landing was okay lot of tackle failures
and losses to the sharks! But we still managed to put a nice afternoon
together. It's absolutely a beautiful grade of fish! Most of the anglers
hooked for five of these fish! We are having to fish the 30 and 40 lb. test
to get a bite here. Not ideal for getting the larger Tuna away from the
sharks. Hopefully they bite heaver line tomorrow!
 

Hello everyone, The conditions for these Yellowtail are improving. It was a dramatic improvement today, the wind switched back to more westerly and the fish seemed happier with the change. We started our day picking at these Yellows until late morning. We then headed offshore to look for Tuna. Late in the day we found a nice foamer of Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna. We caught a few, both on the surface lures and the live bait with a torpedo sinker rig. We are hoping this tuna gets with it here soon. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Hi friends. We finished up our trip today with a decent score of small bluefin, medium bluefin, small yellowtail, large yellowtail, dorado, and two very nice yellowfin. Mark also caught a yellow hard hat which he promptly wore the duration of the day. Anyhow, our weather started out kind of windy but by days end, it was absolutely gorgeous. We're happy everybody had a good time and we'll be in tomorrow morning sometime around 0800 hours. We'll be turning around and rollin' back out with Eric Rogger and company for a five-day adventure.  So we did it again.  We had a nice day.  Arrive/depart day.  Once again, we got out here at a good time and connected on a couple of schools.  We ended our day with 81 tuna.  And they're still that good grade.  25 pound average.  So nice.  Free ones.  Departure fish.  I told everyone to bring there horse shoes and rabbits feet.  I think they did.

 The bait thing went better than expected.  It wasn't Armageddon like I thought it may be.  We used 1/2 the bait I thought would croak and the rest hasn't had any die off yet.  Now we just need our main slammer of bait to hang in there.  The only thing is we didn't get a full load of bait so we may need to catch some down the line.  At least I hope that's the only thing.  Time will tell Joe.  Time will tell.

 We're going to drift here tonight.  It literally feels like we're anchored in the bay right now.  It's so nice.  We'll start here in the morning and try to do it again.  Let's keep the ball rolling.
       

Captain Mike Pritchard checked in with an update from the Tribute. We had decent fishing on Friday! Our 21 anglers ended up with 61 California Yellowtail and 1 Bluefin Tuna (up to 110 pounds).

The Tribute has overnight trips departing daily at 10 PM.
