shearwater Fishing Report 2024

Today we were able to get in on some great Tuna and Dorado action. Mostly smaller Tuna, but the Dorado were all great grade! We will be focusing on Yellowtail tomorrow. Pictured here we have young Colt showing off his big Dorado! Also pictured is Mike and Braxtson with their beautiful Dorado!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-02-2018 We finished up the trip with a bang today! The morning started off hooking a couple fish in the gray light and then immediately losing them both. After about a three-hour lull of hooking nothing we got very busy for about five hours. Again it was the beautiful grade we have been catching And posting pictures of of course. I'm sorry to say that that's all I have to show you today is more pictures of awesome yellowfin tuna. We didn't have many to choose from because we didn't even get a chance to start taking pictures until we had around 20+ on board, we were so busy. One thing I've been reluctant to talk about is the fact that there have been almost no shark interactions! I think we lost a total of maybe eight fish all trip to the tooth fairy. Early on in the season we were losing 50 to 80 fish every trip to the great whites. I know they're still here in big numbers I seen anywhere between 5 to 8 shark dive boats at the island this last five days. We still have four more spots on our six-day trip after Thanksgiving if you would like to to come and give this a try! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Today we we picked at the quality Tuna we have been after. Many successes before the sharks took their share. The fish were on both live bait and chunk bait. It was nice catching them on the chunk because we were able to use big hooks and heavy line. As opposed to small hooks and light line.

Pictured here is a neat looking Pilot Fish. Really cool looking blue fish with black stripes. They hang out with sharks waiting for bits and pieces from a kill to float back to them. Also pictured is a delicious sashimi spread prepared by chef Mike!

Had an insane stop on Long range size Yellowfin. 3 hours later we ended up with 11 fish. Lost as many. Had 7 going at once, for our 6 anglers! Good stuff

Yesterday night Captain Ryan Bostian called in with a Coronado Islands update. We are probably having the best Yellowtail fishing we have ever seen at the Coronado Islands. Yesterday Captain Taro had a charter with 145 Yellowtail. Two days ago we had 251 Yellowtail. The boat is not sold out we do have spots available You will need a passport. Long Drive Big Reward! Today we had a great day of fishing. We had quite the variety today, and they were all great grade! We had a few big Dorado on a jumbo kelp, and when we finally got settled in we were able to catch some great grade Yellowtail and Yellowfin tuna! We will try another spot tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Captain Ryan Bostian called in last night with an update from the San Diego out fo Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. Today we had 24 anglers catch 2 Wahoo and 52 Yellowtail. The fishing was very good. We did have lose 4 Wahoo. The grade on the Yellowtail was very nice. The majority of the Yellowtail was 12 to 20 pounds. Amazing fishing and very low pressure at the islands. I would not be surprised if we see some Bluefin Tuna. We can now keep Bluefin Tuna in Mexican waters.
