Absolutely a great day of fishing. From day light on we had excellent fishing on school grade yellowtail. Our weather is good and everyone is having a great time. Hi friends. The past couple of days has seen us hit numerous beautiful kelp paddies and after weeding through excellent dorado fishing and nauseating yellowtail fishing (WFO 3-5 pounders, all released with the exception for a handful of standouts), we have little tuna to show for our efforts. It's just a matter of finding the right deal that wants to get with it and we haven't been the fortunate ones since our incredible Friday. Anyhow, on a lighter note, the bronzing offshore is just top notch. Gosh it's nice. Beautiful weather has been a big bonus and we're hoping to finish off the trip with a bang tomorrow and fill up with some tuna fish to go along with our weather. Wish us luck tomorrow and don't go chasing waterfalls.

Mark's Hardhat Update:

Mark has been issued the hardhat on two separate occasions for two minor offenses for a total of ten minutes of helmet time thus far. There's still time for him to commit a major penalty and be forced to an all day helmet show. Fingers crossed.

The Endeavor out of Ventura Harbor Sportfishing checked in with us after returning from an Overnight trip with 26 anglers.

Polaris Supreme returned October 14 under skipper Drew Henderson's hand. Drew took his 23 anglers on a seven-day adventure, returning to Fisherman's Landing, where he weighed the best of the catch. "We had a very good afternoon at the Bush," (San Benitos Islands) said Drew, "and we spent some time looking for kelps. Alijos Rocks gave us some really good yellowtail fishing in the dark. We had four or five fishing going. We also tried Guadalupe Island, where we got a few tuna but saw very little." "We had a couple hours of very good dropper loop yellowtail fishing," Drew wrote October 0, "on 25-35 pound fish in the morning. When that slowed we stayed busy with smaller grade tuna and the occasional mahi. We made a tour and got the anchor back down around lunchtime and had the same action but with an occasional larger model tuna being hooked. We hooked 10 and landed four 50 to 60-pounders. After dinner the few that still had the energy to fish all caught several more of those big yellows before we took off at 10:00. We're now spending the day traveling up the line and will be arriving to finish up the trip at Guadalupe Island for a day and a morning." The certified scales provided the winners. Dennis Sewell of Walnut creek won first place for a 68.2-pound tuna.

"It took a lot of line," remarked Dennis. "It fought for a half-hour." Sewell baited a sardine on a 2/0 Eagle Claw hook tied to 40-pound Seaguar fluorocarbon leader and 40-pound P-Line, and fished with an Accurate 870 reel and a six-foot rod of unknown origin.

Jake Hamstra of Tulare won second place for a 66.6-pound yellowfin, and Tom Kroes of Tipton won third place for a 60.2-pound tuna. David Richardson of Hacienda Heights stood in with the winners, with his 52.2-pound wahoo, a fish that took his trolled Catchy Tackle spinner head jig in pink and black.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We have been fishing down the beach and the Yellowtail are biting really good on the surface iron and fly-lined baits. Today we had 51 anglers catch 240 Yellowtail (10 to 25 pounds). It's been a fun couple of weeks. Don't miss out on this opportunity. We fish every day and depart at 5:30 AM.

We got lucky today in some great weather today and landed 6 Beautiful Bluefin. As usual this year their was plenty of schools to look at that didn't want to bite. Thank you Joe and Mal.I always have a great time fishing with you and THE BOY'S. We are departing tomorrow on a 3 day trip and we have 2 openings. Tommy and Crew!
