Hello everyone We just wrapped up another successful Simpatico five day charter put on by Vernon Burke. A great group of anglers who know how to fish hard and have fun on their five days of fishing vacation! It was a great trip this five day, we committed to big fish as opposed to big numbers. Some nice bluefin in the 60-90 lb class, the fish that were caught were the biggest these gentlemen have ever caught in their lives. The triumphs and defeats were spread pretty evenly but everyone had their chance at several quality Blufin of a lifetime!  Arrive/Depart today. I feel that I've written this report before. We added a few things, like crew members, food, new passengers... We took a few things away, like crew members, old passengers with there fish... Anyways, We left again mid morning on Mr. Chaparro's 18th consecutive charter. A limited load of 20 passengers. We got our bait... We'll see... and are underway. We'll be fishing first thing tomorrow for tuna/yellowtail/dorado all day long and most likely working our way back down to Cedros Island. There looks to be some wind on the way so we like to be at Islands fishing when that happens. More comfty that way.


The weigh in happened. Just a 5 day progress report. Mark actually gained weight while Justin lost some. And Mark was the better eater. Unless he's secretly stuffing his face during his watch or something. Maybe he doesn't remember doing it.

January 20, 2025 brigantine Fishing Report

Captain Mike Pritchard checked in tonight with an update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA.  Sorry for the late report tonight.  We found a school of Bluefin on the way home and let them have it!  We ended our day with 9 Bluefin and 18 kelp grade yellowtail.

Friday, July 12th, 2013

Hi friends. For whatever reason, the nice, lengthy report I just wrote was erased. With that, here is the short version of what I just wrote. Sorry.

We 2 Bluefin until after lunch and just as we were about to call it a trip, we found a school and a ripper bite on 50-70 lb. Bluefins was upon us and chaos ensued. With some gear already broken down, some guys had to tie hooks to straight spectra or borrow rigs but we ended up getting 38 out of that stop until we ran out of bait and had to kick it for the barn.

Our ETA for tomorrow is 0900 hours back to the docks and we'll be heading out on the 2nd annual Billy Stephens Family Trip. Tommy will be leading us to the promised land. Wish us luck and we'll give you a departure report tomorrow evening. Take care and have a fine Friday.

January 18, 2025 brigantine Fishing Report

Today we had fantastic fishing on 15- 25 lb Yellowtail. We were able to get on a couple really nice schools that made for some great action! Both the kids and the fathers did a great job putting the wood to these fish! There was definably a lot of sore arms when it was all said and done. Here we have Colt and Kingston with some nice Yellowtail. Hopefully they will be rested up for offshore tomorrow. We will be looking for Tuna and Dorado.

Well late in the day yesterday we got into a good school of albacore. They bite well and everybody was hung on the boat. It was a wild afternoon and we ended up with a nice round of albacore. This morning we are in a new area. Prospects look good and we've had a handful so far. We are coming up on a really good looking spot so I will update again later. Thanks! Tommy and crew

January 16, 2025 brigantine Fishing Report

Hi friends. Short report for this evening as our weather is snotty and we don't have enough tie-down straps to strap my feet to the floor and my fingers to the keyboard. A helmet wouldn't be a bad idea either but we don't have one. Anyhow, offshore prospecting today was OK. We had a few jig strikes on Yellowfin and Dorado and managed a couple stops that produced some bait-fish late in the day but that was about it. Windy conditions made for a bumpy ride all day and made for difficult glassing conditions to try and locate kelps, breezers, and breaking fish. The weather is forecasted to continue to be windy but is supposed to come down for the start of our fishing day tomorrow. We'll be finishing up our trip by fishing all day Thursday and a partial day Friday at the Bluefin/Yellowfin grounds. Scores remain decent to very good and we're hoping to top off our hodge-podge of fish already in the RSW wells with some more Bluefin and Yellowfin. We'll be in the area at first light tomorrow.

January 15, 2025 brigantine Fishing Report

After spending all day yesterday searching for yellowtail without success. Today we decided to put the feelers out and look at some new areas. After a couple hours of searching we found exactly what we were looking for. The yellowtail we found today were really active for about an hour. In one hour our 15 anglers managed to put 20 very nice size yellowtail on the deck. Our yellowtail today were caught on yo-yo lures, surface lures as well as fly lined sardines. Make sure you bring a bait rod to go with your yo-yo rod from here on out.
