Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-18-2016 Hello Everyone, Today we had a fantastic day of offshore fishing! We got on a school of big yellowfin that bit all day! The best part was the grade, an average of 50 to 80 lb fish! Amazing to have such good size biting fish in striking range from San Diego in California waters. We had a blast today bringing these fish aboard. Many people finished the day with their personal best tuna in the hold! The hot ticket was a good fresh flylined bait, and in the afternoon we hit our stride with balloon fishing. The balloon was deadly during the latter part of the afternoon. Capt Ryan Bostain checked in with a report for the San Diego for their 3/4 day trip today down south, we ended the day with 103 Yellowtail for our efforts. Mixed sizes today with a couple in the 10 lb range and a couple around 28 lbs, most were in the 15 to 18 lbs. They were mostly on the surface action today, with a few on the yoyo irons. Come on down and bring a 40-50 lb setup for the yoyo and a 25-30 for flylining and a 8-10 ft jig stick for the surface irons. The Tady 45s, Salas 7Xs or Candy Bars are all working well for the surface irons. Come on down and get in on this Yellowtail action while it is hot.

Hello Everyone, Today we had a fantastic day on the water . Lots of action on medium sized Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail, nicer grade Dorado, and even some Wahoo. A fantastic mixed bag. We cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

July 30
    We had a great day.  Of course the morning had us worried.  We started in the day befores hot spot and it was ice cold.  I felt disgusted but what we do in those situations as a group of boats is find them and that's what happened so in the afternoon we had a couple very good drifts on yellowfin tuna.  Our first drift was at 2:00 after lunch and it was a long plunker bite of 1-3 going at a time.  After that we already had a good day and a good trip.  We had the whipped cream and the nuts but I wanted the cherry so after an hour or so of hard looking we found our sun downer school.  It was a little more fast paced this time and it lasted almost until sunset on the yellowfin and well past dark for the 3 bluefin we hooked.  They were 50-80 pounds estimated.  We'll find out at the scale tomorrow.  They'll make jack pot go quickly because I'll only need to weigh 3 fish.
    
    The weather today was fantastic.  We're headed in and we'll be dockside tomorrow at 7:00 in the AM.  I'll be handing the keys over to Tommy and I'm finally going home for the first time this season.  I'm looking forward to getting to know my baby again who will be turning 4 months this Saturday.
                            

This past week was all about yellowtail and warm water. 40 - 115 yellowtail per trip with a sprinkling of dorado sums up the past week. I attached a photo of the terrafin chart for our area to show you guys all the warm water. Anything over 70 degrees is considered warm and as you can tell we have plenty of it. As a matter of fact finding the cooler water has actually been the key to catching these yellowtail. The most common question this week was "when are the yellowfin going to show up". While I don't have a crystal ball to tell you exactly when they are going to show up. I can tell you that they have made a major northern movement over the past week and there has been yellowfin tuna caught as close as 60 miles. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-06-2016 Good Afternoon everyone, Today we departed on our annual Ranta 5 day. We cleared the point at 11 AM, topped off with a load of sardines, headed south in hopes of some nice august exotics. We have a tackle seminar scheduled for later this afternoon followed by chef Mikes world famous Prime Rib dinner. Finger licking good, cant wait! Until tomorrow, Team Supreme
