Polaris Supreme Trip Update 12-06-2018 We took a break today from tuna fishing and concentrated mainly on yellowtail and had fair success. Mostly 14 to 15 pounder grade with a few 20 pounders thrown in. We have had a great time here at Guadalupe on our OTR seven-day but now it's time to head for home. So far our ride is beautiful in calm seas! We will be clearing Ensenada tomorrow around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Absolutely a great day of fishing. From day light on we had excellent fishing on school grade yellowtail. Our weather is good and everyone is having a great time. TERRIFIC 1.5 TRIP!!! APOLLO on a 1.5 trip to Colonett with 25 anglers took in 48 Lingcod, 29 Yellows & 125 Rockfish. That's great winter fishing!!! We're now getting reservations for February. Captain JJ has been catching fish and having fun. For the next week he is chartered up but he does have a trip for April 10th.

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in a trip wrap for todays trip, it was very good fishing this morning, with some highs and lows. We ended with 31 mixed tuna and 25 very nice grade yellowtail. Yo yo and fly lining worked very well for, and are still getting some hook ups in the dark while sitting on a kelp patty. The Bluefin started biting before sunrise and like a broken record, more than their share got away, we went 10 for about 25 on the 45-55 pound Bluefin, the hot ticket being the flatfall. After sunrise, the plump Yellowfin bit for several hours, being caught primarily on flylined 20 pound.

July 17
    Our morning started off hot.  We had some very good tailing for about 1 1/2 hours on the 16-22 pound grade.  We managed to get a few fish per rod in that amount of time frame before things went dead around 8:30.  It's OK, we were expecting that.  We stuck with the plan and looked for yellowfin after that and it wasn't long before we connected.  We had 2 good stops and one great stop on the yellowfin tunas and scattered small stops the rest of the day.  They were a bit on the small side but that's what's around here so we fished them.  After that we drove out of the zone to put ourselves in position for tomorrow and didn't catch much the rest of the day.

    We'll be tailing it again tomorrow looking for the bigguns down below first thing in the morning.  The weather this morning was great.  It got a little windy in the afternoon but it was OK.
                                

 

We departed today on Lon Mikkleson's annual, limited load 10-day charter. We loaded up some great looking bait while Pedro prepared a delicious pork tenderloin for lunch. The weather is slick, flat calm and the our anglers and crew both are excited about the upcoming prospects. The passengers are preparing their gear and for dinner Pedro put out a yummy lobster and rack of lamb dinner. We will keep you posted.
