khancoban Fishing Report 2024

Our hunt for mahi mahi was rudely interrupted by big schools of 10-30 lb yellowfin tuna. 107 yellowfin, 23 skipjack. 20-30 lb and size 2 hook was the hot setup. Few fish on colt snipers as well !

14 pass. 62 yellowtail (15-25 lbs). Very exciting February day. Yo-yo jigs on 40 lb mono or a good swimming surface iron. Grab your passports and make those reservations.

Good evening everyone, Today we spent the day, crimping, cutting, wiring, and simply enjoying the ride down the line. Sun in the sky, low winds, and great company. What more can you ask for! We have Wahoo in our sights for tomorrow morning and are making great speed traveling down. We should arrive early tomorrow morning to begin trying for these fish. Today we we picked at the quality Tuna we have been after. Many successes before the sharks took their share. The fish were on both live bait and chunk bait. It was nice catching them on the chunk because we were able to use big hooks and heavy line. As opposed to small hooks and light line.

Pictured here is a neat looking Pilot Fish. Really cool looking blue fish with black stripes. They hang out with sharks waiting for bits and pieces from a kill to float back to them. Also pictured is a delicious sashimi spread prepared by chef Mike!

Today was mostly spent traveling. We'd tried an area first thing this morning and if it would have produced we would of hung out but we didn't have high hopes due to the poor reports of the previous boats who fished there but it was along our travel route so of course we looked at it. Basicaly we tried a few spots in the am and another in the afternoon for some fish taco meat ( which we had for lunch and it was delicous by the way) before arriving to the top end of the ridge just at dark. We fished there till after dinner catching small yellows, small tunas, and other various species of fish we didn't tag until pulling anchor and continuing on down. We'll be arriving in tomorrows hot spot at midnight tonight and we're hoping to get this party started and soon as we get there but we'll take it at sunrise too. Weathers mostly great down here. Not much wind, hot, sunny and clear.

Nice yellow Pablo! Made a little bit of squid and things were looking pretty fishy. Got one fish and saw some more. Game fish scene is straightening out.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in this morning. We are operating 3/4 day trips everyday out of Seaforth Landing. The fishing at the Coronado Islands have been good for Yellowtail. We have also seen Wahoo at the Islands. A passport is required for all reservations for fishing at the Coronado Islands. Hello Everyone, We are rolling down today, mainly a rigging day. We are trying to get all of our gear ready for the rest of the trip. From wire leaders to dropper loop rigs we are getting it all set up for the 7 days to come. Great food, great weather, great company. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme
