gvffc Fishing Report 2024

Fun mixed bag fishing. 5 Yellowtail. 1 Bluefin and a lot of Kelp Bass. Forgot to take pictures. So here is one of the boat. 

Good morning everyone! Still battling some very very rough seas! We should be into Ensenada on time this afternoon and definitely will not be doing any fishing today. Looking forward to getting out of this weather probably by 2 o'clock or 3 o'clock this afternoon. It looks like the next trip Vernon's guys will have a nice ride down to Guadalupe on their five day. Nothing to do today but breakdown tackle and do a few boat projects.

Andrew Viola called in with an update from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA.

We have Yellowtail limits on the boat, most of them around the 10 pound range and a fair amount in the 15 pound range. We also have 3 Yellowfin Tuna and 1 Dorado.

We have an Overnight trip leaving tonight at 10pm and a 1.5 day trip leaving on Tuesday at 9pm with open spots.

Polaris Supreme returned to Fisherman's landing June 4 after her first three-day trip of the new season, with 24 anglers aboard. Yellowtail were plentiful and many were released. Some bluefin tuna of up to nearly 33 pounds were also caught. Owner-skipper Tommy Rothery reported pleasant sea conditions and nice weather.

"We were way down there,below where everybody else is fishing," said Tommy. "It was a little rolly at mid-day. I don't know why."

Rick Yokley of San Diego won first place for a 32.4-pound bluefin.

"He took me around the boat three times," commented Rick. He said he fished a sardine on a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, with 30-pound fluorocarbon leader and 65-pound Spectra backing on an Avet MXL 6/4 reel.

John Brown of El Cajon was second, for a 32.2-pound bluefin, and Paul Cheak of Benecia won third place for a 31.4-pound bluefin tuna.

Yesterday we went out with 26 anglers. Final fish count for our day was 2 lingcod 2 sheephead 75 red rockcod and full Mexican limits of rockfish. Our next trip is Sunday February 10. Call Seaforth Sportfishing at 619-224-3383 for reservations.

It's time to start thinking about the summer fishing schedule. We have a couple of opportunities to offer if you want to jump on a trip. First we have two spots open on a 5 day trip departing the morning of the 24th of May and returning on the 29th. The trip is limited to 10 people. This has always been a fun trip. Hello Everyone, We had a great day of fishing today. We were able to slide on a nice Bluefin Tuna Breezer and pick from noon till dark. The Tuna were all 30-35lb average, great size fish. We are hoping for similar fishing tomorrow. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme
