Hi Fishing Friends:

This trip will depart on Saturday night the 26th at 9pm and fish Sunday the 27th, returning Sunday evening. We welcome everyone to come join us for a chance to catch white sea bass, halibut and quality rock fish. The trip will be limited to 24 people and the cost will be $185 per person. Well what the heck! I just went to go get some pictures to post on our wrap up of Tom Chaparros six-day trip! Yes that's right it was a six-day trip not a five! And next year it is going to be a seven-day trip! If you care to join Tom and his gang give Susan a call! He limits his trip to only 18 anglers. Anyways I went to go get some pictures out of our files and all we had was pizza! And then I realized the only slow day of fishing we had out of six days was the day we made pizza! Thus the only day we had time to take pictures! We were too busy gaffing 18 to 22 pound average yellowtail and or 15 To 16 pound average yellowfin tuna! Our fishing was absolutely fantastic. The yellowtail fishing was excellent surface iron and fly line sardine as well was the yellowfin tuna fishing. A iron throwers paradise. One thing I should point out about Tom's trip as well as every trip we've had so far this year is that our weather has been absolutely superb! I think maybe we've only had two choppy days in the last 33. Tom Chaparros seven day trip next year 2018 will be departing on Wednesday August 1 and arriving Wednesday, August 8. After getting to see what great fishing we could get into stretching the trip 1 day and seeing some of the other boats on longer trips getting a shot at the Wahoo it got everyone to want to extend the trip. Please check with Susan and Tom to see if they have openings. Hello Everyone, Today we had a nice day fishing off the Baja coast. We managed to scrape up some Wahoo to start off the day and finished the day with great fishing on Yellowtail. They were mainly 14 lbs but 40% were beautiful 20-30lbs. Absolutely great Yellowtail. Mixed in were some good grade Yellowfin Tuna, Pargo, and Grouper. A nice way to taste the flavor of Southern Baja fishing. We are planning on trying it here in the morning. Will report then, Team Supreme

July 14 and 15 all in one.
    We fished the 14th offshore in some haven't been fished in waters for a while and we found plenty of tuna but they were all small.  For the most part it's what the grade of yellowfin is this year so we opted to put tags on them.  It bit well on one stop.  After a while we wound in the jigs due to constant jig strikes, we couldn't short stop anymore without it costing us time in the local grounds where the better grade was biting.  Mark and I played a game we call suicide trolling.  We each put out a troll rod and the first one to get a tuna on deck wins.  The boat doesn't stop.  We both got bit instantly but mine fell off.  I kept getting bit but they wouldn't hook.  After 30 seconds I realized I didn't have a hook on my jig and by the time I got a different jig out we were past the fish and Mark took his time and wound his in for the victory.  

    We can't complain about today.  The weather was as good as it gets.  No wind and no sea.  It was beautiful.  We also caught 54 30-35 pound tuna and for what was around today, it was a good score.  We're headed in and we're going to be the first boat in tomorrow at 0530 hours.  We'll be heading back out tomorrow on another 5 day trip.  See you then.

 

Hello Everyone, Today was a great day. Yellowfin to start the morning and Yellowtail and Grouper during the day. We did not catch a whole lot of Grouper but the ones we caught were big one. We cannot wait to weigh them at the dock. We will be working up the line tonight in search of Yellowtail tomorrow. Wish us luck, Team Supreme Pictured here is Jim with a nice Dorado in the dark.

Hi friends. Well, the morning started out pretty well for us. Got an early wake up from Riddler after an all night freeze in our crew staterooms. The new A/C works too well. We all slept in socks and sweaters and were still freezing. We felt like Sinka in "Cool Runnings" when John Candy throws him in the ice cream truck to simulate what the temperature would be like for their bobsled race. Anyhow, with The Outfields "Use Your Love" stuck in my head, we started hooking some bluefin tunas in the 50 lb. range, give or take a few pounds, and we managed to boat six of those beauties. A good start to our morning but that was it for our day on the BFT. Nice to see 'em, but not a whole lot of substance to it, so we continued on our journey south.

Throughout the day, we stopped on multiple kelp paddies for a few handfuls of quality 14-25 lb. yellows and we even snagged a few 18 lb. yellowfin tuna as well, so that was sweet. We didn't have a banner day by any means but we scratched a decent day out of it and everyone had a shot at a quality offshore gamefish. With that, we didn't see a whole lot to keep us offshore so we'll be heading elsewhere to try and locate some sabas (greenback mackerel) and some yellowtail as well. We'll be in the zone around 23:45 hours and the passengers are downstairs enjoying barbecue ribs, corn, and cherry pie.

Just a quick bit of news before I sign off: fishing in the day and a half range picked up late in the day on bluefin tuna. Good scores for the guys and granted we're further south than those guys, we're keeping our eyes on that developing situation. Be sure to check our schedule as we have a couple of day and a half trips on the schedule.

So that is all. Weather is chilly but the sea state is plenty fine. We'll be at it here in a few hours so we better get some sleep. Take care.

J. J. Gerritsen docked his Apollo at Fisherman's landing January 21 after a trip of a day and a half to the Colnett area. "We fished the high spots," he said, "when we saw really good sign of yellows on the sonar. We had good action on drifts for 26 yellowtail, most on yoyo jigs in blue and white or scrambled eggs color. "About 9:30 a.m. we moved into deeper water to rockfish on slow drifts. We had excellent ling cod fishing on lings up to 20 pounds. We got 78 of them, mostly on the dropper loop with sardines, but some on jigs, too. We filled out our limits with reds anmd some large bonito. There were a lot of bonito around, up to 14 pounds. "We also had a flurry of Humboldt squid, which hindered the yellowtail fishing until they left." J. J. said he would be running these trips every Friday night at right p.m. through the end of February.
