This past week was all about yellowtail and warm water. 40 - 115 yellowtail per trip with a sprinkling of dorado sums up the past week. I attached a photo of the terrafin chart for our area to show you guys all the warm water. Anything over 70 degrees is considered warm and as you can tell we have plenty of it. As a matter of fact finding the cooler water has actually been the key to catching these yellowtail. The most common question this week was "when are the yellowfin going to show up". While I don't have a crystal ball to tell you exactly when they are going to show up. I can tell you that they have made a major northern movement over the past week and there has been yellowfin tuna caught as close as 60 miles. Good evening everyone and happy Halloween. Things didn't fair too well for us this morning at last weekends hot tuna spot. You can tell it was a week closer to November because there were only 4 of us there compared to 15 of us there last week. Anyways, like I said, things didn't fair too well for us there. That doesn't mean the tuna weren't there though. At least one of the boats there did well today. We didn't have the patience for it today though. At least not for the veal grade, so we took off at lunch time. We took off in search of dorado. And wouldn't you know it, things worked out. We found three productive kelps this afternoon. The last kelp almost being a fixer upper. So it worked out. We had a good day. 130+ fish day. That'll do.
So we'll be in for the week, and we're going to come back out here again next Friday. We're going to bring along with us the Inside Sportfishing crew. They want to do an episode so if that sounds like something you may be interested in, we'd love to have you. And then after that we leave on a 10 day. Amanda Cervallos and Kimber Reed display 2 of the 152 yellowfin we caught today. The savvy angler would bring a rod to fish 20lb and a rod to fish 40lb. We also recommend bringing out a pair of pliers to remove your hook during a hot bite.

The 3 days of wind dropped the water temp a couple of degrees. Ended our day with full Mexican limits of yellowtail 4 dorado 3 skipjack. Conditions should improve with a few days of good weather.

Hello Everyone,
Today was a fun day of fishing with lots of action. Mainly bi catch and non targeted species. We were able to scrape up some Yellowtail but it was not easy. Between Sea Lions and other boats it was a grind. Very fun and entertaining day just not for the targeted fish. We will be in tomorrow and out for a 4 day. Big thank you to Archie Steele for another great charter!
