corona lake Fishing Report 2025

2 yellowfin 12 yellowtail and limits of mahi. One stop shop on the dorado in the morning and very encouraging sign of yellowfin in the afternoon, just could not get a school of tuna to stick to the boat. Excited to see what happens in the near future.

Awesome fishing once again with a bite that lasted for 6 hours producing 31 Yellowfin 18-40 pounds and 26 Bluefin 50-80 pounds. Happy Thanksgiving!

36 yellowtail 95 reds 165 rockfish. Couple good shots at winter time yellowtail and plenty of taco meat for everyone.

We had some good fishing on the yellows today around 12-18 pounds with some at 25 lbs. We released 100's of smaller ones.

There was plenty of action. The guys are having a great time. Our weather is ok not great, not bad. There is a little bit better sign of albacore. They are improving from what it has been recently. We will fish the yellowtail again tomorrow and save the last couple of days for tuna fishing. For dinner we had turkey breast with sausage bread stuffing and a sage wine sauce. Good evening friends. We arrived back from John and Ed's family 3-day trip this morning at 0600 and were back out to sea around 1030 hours embarking on our 11th annual Paul Hess 5-day adventure. Paul has brought his usual cast of renegades along with some Polaris Supreme first-timers. We're missing a few of the familiar faces but we'll see you all next year and we'll dedicate this trip towards y'all. Anyhow, the reports are sounding promising a little further south for the fish that get my blood pumping like no other, the Bluefin tuna. So we're motoring on down there and we'll be in the zone sometime in the morning and as for the weather, it's very fair right now and we're liking it.

So that is all. We'll be giving it a go for some tuna fish tomorrow and we'll base our decision for day two when the sun settles below the horizon. We're all a happy bunch. The passengers are well fed and sleepy and with our new subscription to SiriusXM radio, we're a happy crew. Things are just peachy and we'll hit you up tomorrow.

P.S. Special thanks goes to Dave and Sandra. Thank you for the cookies. Drew and I left the passengers with roughly a dozen and the seventy-nine that we ate before dinner were especially delicious. Dave: I miss your hot-white boots and Sandra, I miss identifying birds with you. We'll see you next year.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in this morning at 10:25 with an update from the Coronado Islands. The Yo Yo Jig is the ticket. There are two school of fish out here today and we are catching the bigger models. We have 35 fish maybe up to 40 by now. Wow what a great first day fishing. Kicked it off on some great quality tuna. Cowboy came in first with a 288 pounder and Roger had a tight second with a 255 pounder. Most of the rest had fish around the 175 lb. class. There was also good fishing on fish 30-40 and 60-100 lbs. Our weather is absolutely gorgeous. We did stop long enough to enjoy some carde asada tacos with fresh, homemade guacamole and salsa.And dinner was mahi mahi and shrimp. Thanks for checking in.Tommy

Today we went out on our daily 3/4 day trip and caught 75 yellowtail. We saw some of the biggest schools of the year today. Yo-yo lures were the best,however we did catch a few on the surface iron and fly lined bait. Our next open trip is Thursday March 28.
