Captain Ryan Bostian called in last night. We just got in from our Coronado Islands Yellowtail trip. We had limits of Yellowtail for our group today. There are a few different schools of fish. Most the fish are 10 to 15 pounds. The fishing was very good today. YoYo jig and drop loop was hot. In the afternoon the surface fishing picked up. The San Diego is online everyday.  Hello all and welcome back.  Or welcome me back or... you know what I mean.  I'm back.  5 days off and I'm back on the water and reporting to you.  I met the boat at the dock at 6:30 in the morning and was pleased to see the stern deck loaded up with tuna.  A good catch they had.  Well we off loaded everything and everyone, went and changed oil and put enough fuel on board to last us a while and left on our Bogart construction 2 day charter.  We got a good enough jump to fish a few hours before dark in the latest hot tuna zone but hot it was not.  The fishing there in the morning was good but it took a dump late morning and on.  We wound up catching 3 tuna before dark.  Obviously we're hoping for a good morning tomorrow and we're also hoping the bite stays on for longer then it did today.
       
 

Hello there Polaris Supreme Fans, Our fishing day started off with Capt. Tommy stopping the boat on a mix school of Bluefin Tuna and Yellowfin Tuna!! We driffed on that school until after lunch!! The Bluefin were between 15-45lbs and the Yellowfin 12-25lbs.

After a short break we came up on a kelp that was holding everything from Yellowtail to Marlin!! which turned into a nice plunker bite that lasted until we had to head for home, another great day fishing on the Polari Supreme!!!

Today we caught 2 yellowfin tuna and did not like what we saw offshore. We are going back to the islands starting tomorrow. Bring a 25 or 30 lb flyline setup and a 40 or 50 lb yoyo setup. Passports required !

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Hi friends. Same type of scenario today just as it was yesterday; we saw tuna everywhere but could only scratch up some fish on the troll throughout the day and our weather was hot, humid, and sunny. Hard to get a fish to eat a bait with a hook in it today and it was also hard to not sweat off all of our sunscreen on our faces. Like I said, it was a difficult day as we had to troll up most of our catch with the exception of a few handfuls of quality yellowtail on the yo-yo jigs and dropper loops on one of our many anchor jobs. Maybe these fish will get with the program and bite but we won't be around to see it as we have to start making our way up the line. We'll do a little fishing on the way up tomorrow and we'll probably give it a full day on the local tuna grounds on Friday. Our weather is just dandy and we're enjoying our traveling at the moment. We'll report back to you tomorrow.

Before I go, a couple of things I'd like to address. First, Mark finally had himself some good ole' fashioned hardhat time today for being a humongous dork while winding in a yo-yo iron. Second, we'd like to issue a congrats to our good buddy and former Polaris Supreme family member Derek Waldman. Derek ran his first trip as master of the Red Rooster III and had himself a very solid first trip. For those of you who don't remember, Derek is a solid dude and has one of the biggest hearts a person could have and we're thrilled for him. Good job, Derek. Here's to many more.

Polaris Supreme Report 07-26-2016 Hello everyone Today we really put the nose to the grind stone and had to work at these yellowtail. There are big fish around but they are proving to be very difficult to catch. Today we had 3 obstacles: slack current in the morning, hundreds of veracious baby yellowtail, and the famed sea lion. These mammals proved to be the toughest bout we encountered when it came to landing big fish. Many of the better quality yellowtail were lost to the sea lions including an absolute standout monster that would have went over 40 pounds. We were able to boat the fish, but not after the taxman left his mark on the portion of the belly. That aside we made out with a nice catch for the day, everyone was able to put tags on plenty of fish. It was a truly action filled day, full of hundreds of releases and hard fought battles with the sea lions with hard won success in the end. Especially our dark bite that went off right at dinner. That was all beautiful quality fish and no sea lions they were already on land sleeping. Hopefully tomorrow will be at least as good with a little less action on the sea lions . Captain Andrew Viola checked in this morning at 8:59 PM with an audio update from the Pacifica out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA.  We have been drifting for an hour and have put together a good score so far.  We have 62 Yellowfin Tuna and 4 Bluefin Tuna.  We are still drifting with fish around the boat.

We have a 1.5 day trip departing on Wednesday night.  We also have a full day trip on Sunday.  Come out fishing on the Pacifica!!!!
