Hey Anglers:

We have three trips that need passengers. Hoping to help the charter masters fill these.

The first trip is a one day that departs on July 16th. Fishing on the 17th. There are 4 spots open. Cost is $205. Limited to 20 passengers.

The next trip is a two day that departs July 24th (Tuesday night) fishing July 25th and 26th . cost of the trip is $450.00 and includes food and Mexican permits. Limited to 22 anglers. There are 8 spots open on this one.

The last one is a 2.5 day charter at the end of July. This is limited to 18 passengers. Trip departs on July 26th fishing on the 27th and 28th and returns on the morning of the 29th.

Capt Ryan checked in from the San Diego to report that they finished yesterday's trip with 111 Yellowtail. We got a lot on the yoyo iron as well as the surface iron and flylined baits. Make sure you bring all your Yellowtail gear to be prepared, a 40 lb rig, a 25 lb bait rod and a surface iron rod. We are online everyday and the weather looks good for the next few days, give the landing a call at 619-224-3383 and make your reservations.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-27-2016 Thanks again for checking in. We arrived nice and early to the tuna grounds to get ourselves in the best position for the days work. Shortly after first light we decided where we wanted to get things going. It started off quite slow as the conditions weren't just right. We lacked current which is not favorable to catching fish so it became a little bit of a waiting game. That gave Chef Mike his time to get breakfast out of the way. Not too long after we got mobile and did some looking around and finally started checking out some different schools and began scratching away at a few bluefin. They were in the 18 lb class which is not bad at all. As the day progressed, we found the spot that looked the best and posted up, getting a solid chum line going, got the balloons out and settled in. The fish slowly started popping up with some bluefin in the 70 lb class hitting the deck as well as Marilyn landing her first ever balloon fish and first yellowfin at about 70 lbs. Congrats on that one!! The rest of the afternoon was a steady pick on that beautiful grade of tuna. You couldn't ask for a better way to end a 3 day trip. As soon as we landed our last 2 nice bluefin, one being Theresa's 75 lb "dream fish", it was time to pack it up and head home for San Diego. Us here on the Polaris Supreme would like to say thanks to Charter Head Bev Seltzer and her team of ladies and gentlemen for joining us this year and looking forward to seeing them next year on the 2nd annual Sadie Hawkins 3 day Charter. Hi friends. It's hot down here -- wicked hot. The bronzing was epic today. Charlie Middleton and Drew even got in on the action. Just kidding, but we did as if they would like to participate in a session with us but they respectfully declined. Bottom line, the weather was excellent today but we could've used about five more knots of wind not only for some circulation but to carry the kite out as well. Anyhow, our fishing was a little on the slow side but it was to be expected with the south swell that rolled through here and threw things off a bit. We trolled up some wahoo today and managed to land a few fish on various artificials and a few on live bait as well. The sign of tuna here wasn't anything to write home about this morning but in the afternoon, we rolled up to a spot of jumpers, kicked the anchor over, and proceeded to hook and land a few in the 40-80 lb. range. We did have our shark casualties today as well but we're hopeful that if we can get a few more fish hooked, we'll keep the sharks spread out and land a few more. We'll see.

Anyways, our plan is to stay here tomorrow and see what the morning brings and we'll base our next decision to stay or go off of that. Wish us luck. Good night.

P.S. Eddie wishes to say hello to Marla. Eddie managed one of those beautiful yellowfin today so he's pumped. He misses you and can't wait to get home and see you.

Mike Pritchard called in this morning with this report for the Tribute. "We've had a very nice start here this moring. A couple of kelps have been absolutely fantastic. Great Yellowtail fishing to go along with some Yellowfin and Dorado. We caught 160 Yellowtail out of 2 drifts. A lot of the fish were caught on surface irons, swimbait and even poppers.

"We are now targeting some tuna or maybe some Dorado. We'll keep you informed."

We spent our last day looking at school after school of albacore. A very good sign of no biting fish. Frustrating? Yes. Oh well. That's just how it goes sometimes. A very good trip in all. Thanks to everyone on board and to the charter master Wayne Martin with Catchy Tackle lures. We'll be rolling back out tomorrow on another 5 day trip. Stay tuned.

Iven moving on up! We had a great a day of fishing today. Our fishing started today at noon and we had non stop action all day long. We landed some nice Yellowfin tuna between 40-80 lbs. However with great tuna action came great shark action. Our resilient passengers were hooking these tuna very well, but the lurking Great White Sharks were hot on their tails. Eating a large majority of our nicer tuna hooked. Pictured here is Ivan with his prized tuna that he was able to hustle in through the sharks! Very different than last years fish ( other fish pictured). Great improvement!
