Saturday, July 28th, 2012

Good evening, friends. We departed on an open party 5-day trip today with a healthy load of people and a healthy load of bait. Our weather traveling down is quite nice and we're looking like the weather is going to clean up for the next few days, so we're pumped. As far as the fishing outlook, one boat in the area today did equally phenomenal on bluefin and yellowfin. Straight up.We'll be in the area tomorrow and we'll chat you up tomorrow on our day.

Getting back to yesterday, we'd like to thank Paul Hess and his crew that tagged along with him this year. If I recall, this was Paul's 12th annual trip and we look forward to seeing him, his son, Matt, and the rest of the gang that comes back year after year (thanks for bailing, Boomhower. More bluefin and yellowfin for us.) Anyhow, It's a fantastic trip, one of my favorites every year, and we'll see y'all next year.

Fishing was not wide open today. The guys topped off with the yellowtail for the trip. They also had good fishing on the dorado on a couple of different kelp patties. Our weather continues to be great. As we travel home to make our 6:00am arrival tomorrow we will be dining on Pedro's exquisite prime rib dinner. Come see us at the dock or better yet book a trip and come out with us. Tomorrow we'll be heading out on Tom Chaparro's annual 5 day, 18 passenger, lite load charter. Polaris Supreme Update 11-14-2013

Whales, porpoise, turtles, seals, frigate birds, boobie birds, marlin, and of course yellowfin tuna. All were sighted in the last 24 hours from the deck of the Polaris Supreme. We found the fish today, or they found us. Either way, it wasn't as productive day as it could have been. Not a barn-burner, but it showed us what potential tomorrow might have. Exceptionally calm and balmy weather continues. The term "grease calm" comes to mind. Our weather is forecast to remain like this for at least another day, and the only drawback is there is not enough wind to utilize our kites.

The crew is too busy to update you, so this is your mystery guest writer once again. The crew is re-rigging us in anticipation of another round with a nice grade of tuna. Actually, dinner tonight will be fresh seared Ahi served with all the the accompanying goodies. One of the rewards for landing a few of the right kind.

Cocktails are currently being consumed as fish stories are being told down in the main salon. Time to relax, and get ready for tomorrow's adventure. Life is good ... talk to you tomorrow...

A four-day trip with 24 anglers aboard Polaris Supreme and skippered by owner Tom Rothery returned to Fisherman's Landing July 9. Richard Bradshaw of Poulsbo, WA won first place for a 43-pound bluefin. He got that fish with a sardine on a 4/0 Mustad hook, 30-pound Maxima line on a Sealine 50 reel and one of the boat's rods. Jules Appelman of Albeuquerque was second for a 39.4-pound albacore, and Doug Dalme of Napa won third place for a 38.9-pound albacore tuna.

The apollo is running a two day charter this weekend and needs two people. The trip is limited to only 20 people and departs on Thurs. night at 9pm and returns on Sat. night around 7pm. Hi folks. We departed today on an open party 8-day trip with plenty of familiar faces on-board, so it's more like a charter. We picked up a fine looking load of sardines and we'll see how they do on our southerly journey for the next couple of days. For now, everything is good. The seas were flat calm all day and the weather was hot but now, it's a little foggy out but absolutely no sea conditions. We'll take it. The boys just enjoyed a fat piece of prime rib and everyone is sacking out for the night -- fat and happy. Tomorrow morning, we'll knock out some seminars, get rigged up, and see if we can't stumble upon a school of some fat yellowfin and/or fat bluefin throughout our travels.

Anyhow, life is good for now. We're monitoring tropical storm Kristy and as of now, we're looking like she's going to miss us and we're going to have some nice weather in the next couple of days in our zones. We'll see. Wish us luck and we'll chat with you tomorrow.
