July 8
    We started this morning off with a bang.  We were up at 0400 hours and loaded up on mackerel, then we went and found a nice school of 20-25 pound fish that bit for us for a little while.  They were biting the surface iron great and I decided this morning that my favorite kind of fishing is surface iron for big yellows.  Big tuna and wahoo are really cool too but man o man is it fun.  My passenger and bud Dennis wasn't hooking any.  He usually does but he had a straight rod the whole drift.  When it slowed down he noticed that his jig had no hook on it.  Through all the excitement he ever noticed until it was done.  I thought that was kind of funny.  Bummer though.  The bite was rather short lived as was expected and after that we did some scouting.  We found a nice school of those 20-25 pounders but it was tough to get them to bite.   Throughout the rest of the day we did some scouting and caught fish and did some scouting and didn't.  We ended up with about a hundred and we're satisfied.

    We're going to stay the night and try this again in the morning.  I'm thinking about fishing offshore for tuna in the afternoon.  We'll see how tomorrow goes.
                                    

 

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-22-2016 Good morning everyone from the bridge of the Polaris Supreme. We are certainly holding our heads high after yesterday's action. With a little bit of a scratchy couple of days prior, the switch turned on and it was nothing short of a day that everyone hopes for. The morning pick was nothing to complain about, but right at lunch time, the galley was a ghost town. It was all hands on deck. The grade of fish was a touch on the smaller side to start with some bonito mixed in, but we stayed persistent and fished off the junk. As the afternoon transpired, the size of the yellows just kept getting bigger and bigger. It was a picture perfect yellow bite. Breaking fish, breezers, shiners....surface iron, yo-yo, fly line, dropper loop. We just couldn't miss. Just shows the reward comes when you stick with it and fish hard. The grade of fish was a 15-20 lb average with a handful of stand out 30+ pounders. All and all it was an amazing day out here. We're off to a little bit of a slow start this morning, so we'll just patiently wait til they decide to wake up and get on the chew. The smaller fish 20 to 25 pounds are biting 20 pound test pretty good. But please bring some heavy line for the bigger models! Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Hi friends. Yesterday, it was a sad day for Raider nation and eleven years ago today, it was a sad day for our nation. A day that we will never forget and with the sadness and pain came unity and strength. We pay or respects to those lost on September 11th of 2001 and we pay respects to the military --past and present-- that fought for our freedom and still continue to fight today. Thank you, from the Polaris Supreme.

Anyhow, the weather was fantastic. We caught good yellowtail this morning and we had jigs behind the boat for most of the day while we made our way up the line to get setup for tomorrow. We actually had to pull in the jigs on numerous occasions because the football yellowfin were so relentless. We're after trophies now and it sounds like there are some schools of big yellowfin running around. We'll see if we can't get on a school to end our trip on a grand note. Today we had a good morning hit on the Tuna and Yellowtail. We were able to fill in the cracks for the people who still needed Tuna and also be selective for the larger models. After that we spent the day working up. picking up a few more Wahoo, Grouper, and larger Yellowtail . We will be focusing on Yellowtail tomorrow.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in with a wrap up from today's trip. We ended up with a great Yellowtail Kelp. We had 195 fish for our 28 people on this Okuma Sponsored trip. We have an extended 1.5 day trip departing on Friday night. Call Seaforth now at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.

Oct. 13

Good afternoon from the Polaris Supreme. We returned this morning from our 6 day trip and off loaded our candy of the ocean. I'm not kidding you. Those bluefin are so darn good I could just make a shake out of them and drink them. I had the pleasure of getting my hands on a few this year and had the big fat belly of one last time I was off and the way I did it was so darn good I'm going to tell you how I did it for the people who caught those beauties this year. Salt, pepper and olive oil on the meat side. Put the belly skin side down on the grill and cook it through. If you flip it at all only do it for a few seconds at the very end. On the stove mix soy sauce, maple syrup and a splash of water and heat warm. Pour on top of fish and enjoy.

Big fish goes as follows: The big bluefins of the trip went from 68 up to 123 pounds, the wahoo was 58 pounds, and I weighed a yellowfin at 51 pounds and we caught several of those so some good quality fish there.

We departed on Joe Gigliotti's 2nd annual 8 day accurate adventure excursion quest outing journey tour ride drive cruise stroll trek trip this morning. Our bait looked mostly good. The last box we took scaled up after our first few scoops so I had the pleasure of taking part in my first bait bucketing. That's where you use buckets to scoop the bait as opposed to nets to put it onboard. It has it's advantages and disadvantages and one advantage is that it's a good workout. Holy moly. After that we had a lovely lunch and some lovely tackle rigging. I had a lovely nap as well and I jumped on the band wagon. I now started the Suzanne Collins Hunger Games trilogy. Richie and chef Shawn have book club meetings on them and I just couldn't be left out so here we go. Plus my David Lee Roth bio still isn't in, damn you amazon.
