GREAT FISHING!!! APOLLO had 25 anglers brought home 1 Yellowtail, 229 Rockfish & 20 Lingcod. We will continue running every Friday evening through February. Cost is $235 includes bait, bunk and Mexican fishing permit. These trips will be targeting Yellowtail, Lingcod and Rock cod. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening. We had 18 passengers catch 6 bluefin tuna from 70-110 pounds. We landed about 1/3 of what we hooked. All you need is a 20 lb Rod for smaller yellowfin. A 50 lb bait Rod with 3/0 circle hooks and a couple 4 oz. torpedos for big fish. And a 60 lb. Rod to fish a flatfall.

Jody called in with this fishing wrap-up, "We were able to fish San Miguel all three days. These 1 Day Trips produced excellent Rockfish & Lingcod fishing. Polaris Supreme returned to Fisherman's landing June 4 after her first three-day trip of the new season, with 24 anglers aboard. Yellowtail were plentiful and many were released. Some bluefin tuna of up to nearly 33 pounds were also caught. Owner-skipper Tommy Rothery reported pleasant sea conditions and nice weather.

"We were way down there,below where everybody else is fishing," said Tommy. "It was a little rolly at mid-day. I don't know why."

Rick Yokley of San Diego won first place for a 32.4-pound bluefin.

"He took me around the boat three times," commented Rick. He said he fished a sardine on a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, with 30-pound fluorocarbon leader and 65-pound Spectra backing on an Avet MXL 6/4 reel.

John Brown of El Cajon was second, for a 32.2-pound bluefin, and Paul Cheak of Benecia won third place for a 31.4-pound bluefin tuna.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-20-2016 Yesterday did not turn out like we had hoped we spent the better part of the day looking for kelp's with no luck. We just did not have the right track traveling down. We ended up scratching a few nice yellows but overall besides the weather, today was disappointing fishing wise. This morning isn't starting off to great we rounded the corner to our destination and watched the water dropped 2°. Were sitting here in the gray light hoping that the yellowtail didn't notice it! We do have a fallback plan I certainly hope we don't have to use it! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

54 passengers 6 yellowtail 80 calico bass 56 barracuda. Great summertime action taking place at the Coronado islands right now. Yellowtail are always the target species this time of year. However, almost every spot that we try to catch yellowtail at also has calico bass and barracuda. It would be a good idea to bring a 15 lb. bass rod along with your yellowtail gear.

We just don't see the sign of 200 lb. plus tuna that we would like to. There is plenty of 70-125 lb. tuna but we are going to bust a move to look for some cows. Weather is still flat clam. Lunch was wahoo enchiladas. (Tom donated the wahoo) Dinner was a pork tenderloin. No hors d'oeuvres today. We need a break.

Cold and crisp. All you want Yellowtail and had a shot at huge Bluefin, yet no bite! We kept enough Yellowtail for dinner with friends and family and released a bunch
