Captain Ryan Bostian called in an with a Bluefin Audio Update! The Bluefin Tuna are really close. We are seeing fish up to 100 pounds. The smaller fish 20 to 25 pounds are biting 20 pound test pretty good. But please bring some heavy line for the bigger models! 108 yellowfin 27 skipjack. These tuna stops have been going from boredom to chaos in a matter of seconds. Knowing how to tie your own hook and leader, having your own pair of pliers, and listening to the crew and making slight adjustments during the stop will keep you in the game. We recommend taking some time before you come out or on the way to the fishing grounds to practice tying on your hook/leader. Our crew members can inspect and show you the right way to do it so when we’re in a hot bite you’re ready for action.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in to report 17 Yellowtail from our first kelp. We also had 2 Bluefin Tuna up to 65 pounds. We are seeing spots of Bluefin today and some other boats have scores up to 30 fish. The weather is fantastic. Stay tuned ...

Capt Mike Pritchard called in from the Tribute to report fantastic Yellowfin Tuna for our 33 anglers, we have 240 fish on board and still fishing. Hi friends. Our morning on the Polaris Supreme started off pretty well for us. We didn't have to wake up and immediately head towards the bow and pull the sea anchor at 0530 hours. We awoke to biting Bluefin while sitting on the "sack" and picked away for an hour or so. When that dried up, we pulled the sea anchor and began our search for some more. We were successful in finding some schools but they didn't want to bite all that well for us but we did manage to capture a few more before we had to call it a trip and head towards home. Our weather has been very pleasant today as the wind has backed off and it made for a smooth ride in for our journey back to San Diego. All in all, we had a fine trip and managed to put together a nice score on the Bluefin. We're thankful the weather wasn't too bad and we're looking forward to good nights rest to gear up for our turnaround tomorrow.

So that is all. Tomorrow, we will be taking Paul Hess and friends out for five days of fun in the sun. Our ETA is around 0600 hours tomorrow. Thanks for checking in.

Hi friends. We arrived this morning from our Garry Roberts 9-day trip, wheeled up their gear and fish up to the top of the docks, and got down to business on our turnaround chores. When all was said and done, Robin Gledhill and the Blue/White group was on the boat and we shoved off the docks en route to the receivers. Our bait loading went well and we'll monitor the health of our sardines throughout the trip.

For dinner this evening, instead of prime rib (thank you!) Robin brought us some fresh halibut to play with and Chef Shawn prepared it wonderfully. The wine was flowing too. I had Robin give me a list of the wine that was passed around from table to table and I was going to write about it but there are too many big, fancy words for me to type out. All I can say is that there were plenty of dry, light wines to not overpower the fish, but to accent the flakey, white fish. Perfect. I didn't have any. Sad face.

Anyhow, we'll report back to you tomorrow. Hopefully the fishing is great, the seas are flat, and the sunshine burns us all like lobsters.

P.S. I'd like to give a shout out to the lady and gentlemen at Fisherman's Landing for completing my request of breaking seventy dollars with ten seven dollar bills. They are the bomb and they are my friends.

Also, we'd like to give a shout out to our thumb-sized calico bass, Charlie, that Jed and myself released today in the bay. We've taught him the way and he's been through a lot: transit from San Diego Bay, to Alijos Rocks, and back and he also experienced his first USCG helicopter rescue. He's a G and we wish him well.

P.S.S. Those of you waiting for the pictures of last trip, due to technical difficulties they wont be up till we arrive from this trip on Thursday.

This morning we stopped on a school of yellowfin that was smaller than some schools that we have caught 200 off of. This afternoon there was 30-80 lb bluefin in every direction we looked. Both species were a little reluctant to bite. 31 yellowfin tuna,8 yellowtail,1 bluefin tuna.

July 9

We had another good morning today. We got on the fish around 6:30 in the morning and fished it until it went dead at 8:30. 20-25 pound yellowtail. Uh huh. After that we scratched another dozen fish on a few stops and decided to take off around 10 in the morning. We looked around until dark in good looking water but never found anything. A lifeless ocean outside the islands unfortunately.

So we have to head north tonight and we'll be looking for tuna tomorrow until we have to go home. The weather is starting to get choppy where we are now. My legs are spread outside my shoulders to help keep my balance. I think we should have some descent weather where we'll be tomorrow morning but it looks like the wind is on it's way.
