The Apollo is a go for departing Friday night. We will be targeting White Seabass and Halibut. The fare is $145. We have been having good fishing for rockfish if the Seabass do not show up. Call Jodie at (858) 220-1593 to get in on the action.

Drew Henderson docked Polaris Supreme June 11 after a three-day trip. He fished offshore kelp paddies to find a good catch of small yellowtail, a bluefin tuna and an albacore. Dale Goss of Lakewood got the bluefin and first place, as his tuna weighed 31 pounds. He enticed it with a sardine on a 2/0 Hayabusa hook. He fished with 30-pound Big Game line, a Daiwa H 40 reel and a seven-foot Sabre rod. Manvel Miuasyan of Van Nuys was second, for a 21-pound yellowtail, and Scott Tucker of Riverside was third, for a 17-pound yellow. Josh Evans of San Francisco got the albie. He trolled a cedar plug in natural wood color to land his longfin.

Fishing in the morning started slow. Several schools of yellowtail with no success. But by mid-morning things started to happen. They bit well into the late afternoon. The guys released lots of the yellowtail. We then took off off shore for kelp patties with yellowfin, but only found a few dorado. Our weather is good. Tomorrow we are going to go looking for yellowfin. Dinner tonight was Drew's favorite Osso Buso with parmesan potatoes and veggies. Really tasty.

Hello Supreme fans. We have finally hit our stride and started fishing.Unfortunately it happened to be right in the midst of some extremely tough fishing. Our first trip of the year was an Open party three day trip. We spent the three day searching the ocean for biting tuna as well as some inshore action. The tuna fishing was really slow but full of lots of spots of fish, and they were BIG. Bluefin well into the 150 lb class were around but not biting. We chipped away at some inshore fish and were able to put together a nice catch of quality Reds and Lingcod from the bottom. However the star of the show was hands down the jackpot fish. A 130lb Bluefin Tuna, a hard earned fish that ended in victory! These fish were big and did not make it easy to hook them or land them. Their size, abrasive teeth, and unwillingness to bite created quite the challenge.We did managed to hook 5 fish and only landed one. We are out on a two day after Independence day. Wish us Luck! Hey guys:

I'd like to check in and give you guys a recap of our last week at the Coronado Islands as well as prepare you for what you can expect this week. This is the time of year when surface fish are the target species. Yellowtail , barracuda , calico bass , sandbass and white seabass are all on the menu right now. Most of our trips last week we caught between 5-15 yellows 50-150 barracuda and 30-70 calico bass. An area of squid has moved into the island area and some of our trips have started out jigging live squid to use for bait. Squid jigs will be provided by the boat if we decide to stop for squid. Having the live squid opens up a few more options for us.

I want to give you guys a list of rods and reels you should bring out this time of year. One 15 lb. rod with a bass rod and reel like a Calcutta or curado for fishing anchovies and plastics for calico bass and sandbass. One 25 lb. or 30 lb. rod for fly lining sardines . One 30 lb. rod for fishing a live squid with a small sliding egg sinker. The fourth outfit is optional and it is a 40 lb. jig stick for fishing the surface iron.

While everyday is different on the ocean and we need to be prepared for a variety of fish this time of year. These 4 outfits will have you prepared. A wise man once told me " the definition of luck is when preparation and opportunity collide".

Today we tried our hand at Wahoo fishing once again. It was not the red hot bite like yesterday but it was still good numbers and unmatched quality of fish. Many 40-60 lb fish. We have to start heading up now. We may have some time to fish Yellowtail tomorrow on our way up. Here we have some victorious anglers after another great hit on Wahoo! Also Andrew with an absolute monster!
